we're going to the farm Saturday, can you guys tell me exactly what I should do on Saturday to get the ball rolling? I plan on quitting my job soon to focus on this full time, his dad will pay us $10 an hour to work the farm as long as he gets his 10%. Regardless of how long it take, or how hard of work it is, I'm willing to give the time to make this work.
lmao

keep your job young'un.

He will stop paying the bills when it takes a chunk of his 10% lol or his 10% will become 10 plus overhead.

What @Merlot said about the job.

if you want to get the ball rolling do some more research:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=growing weed cervantes

Watch all of those, there's even Jorge Cervantes grow guide.
Here's one on how not to get caught:
Since you're legal this is more like "How Not To Get Robbed." Because that will happen.

There's countless guides you have to read. Learn about NPK, the right nutes, what to do when, what's hype and what's not, etc. Don't buy Advanced Nutrients, they're not commercially viable unless you're doing a huge op.

Learn about humidity, strains, yields, what it takes to actually get pounds off plants, what makes them happy, should you flush or should you not flush, how many lumens per square foot, what's PAR, when do I feed what, what's PPM, what's GPW, what's PH, how do I calculate my PH, how many fans do I need, what's an inline fan, do I need an intake fan, do I need an exhaust fan, do I need a carbon filter, do I need a humidity dome for clones, what's bubbleponics, what's aeroponics, what's the difference between soil and hydro, what are some of the difficulties in soil, what are some of the difficulties in hydro.

So much lol.

HERE IS WHERE YOU START:

Buy a tent. Buy a 3 and a 5 gallon air pot. Get some Fox Farm or Roots Organic soil. Buy a clone. Buy a 600w HPS and either a T5 or an MH for veg, do 18/6 until you've reached half of your maximum height (Which is determined by your Light Height, not the height of your tent). Flower. Harvest. Learn.

Grow.

Reality will set in. I've had ups and downs too. Robbed, jail, illegaly seized. My spot was robbed 2 years ago. By random black guys with guns. And I was there. They didn't even know there was a grow. They were looking for cash. I lost everything from that. The stupid thing is we went shooting the day before. All the guns were at my buddies being cleaned. I'm just now getting back to where I was monitarily. Being out of the loop and not smoking for months. It took a year just to get back in with dispensaries. That wad developing relationships.with owners where we had mutual friends.

I've known several people that give up after a couple years. One former friend who i taught how to grow then he screwed me. Eventually he lost his house and he couldn't grow anymorw. Now he couch surfs and works as a plumbers apprentice.

Myself I've been marketing myself and networking quite a bit. Gave a way lots of clones and seeds of my own crosses. Helped lots of sick and broke people. It's very fickle.

This industry , just like the glass blowing or even the audio industry. If you screw one person over. Or get bad mouthed . Word travels fast through the growers telegraph. Then you are done and no one will fuck with you.

Luckily one of my friends is good friends with all the famous people.in the industry. Just that relationship alone helped so much. It didn't make me any money. It helped get my name out there. Now I'm pretty well known amongst breeders and growers and hash makers.

If I'm getting the same pay as I would from my regular job, why would I keep my regular one when I can work pot all day.
because your normal job as prospects I hope....

Every stoner and their dog has dreams of being a 'legal' grower in the US these days... It's a tough market which needs capital and contacts. You have neither....

Except you will be working 16 hour days everyday. Growing pot is one of the most tedious and strenuous jobs you could ever have. You will get into shape. You will be going to sleep early because you are to tired to to function. Partying and going out will be nothing but a memory.

Guys lets not forget an 18 year old driving a BMW needs TAXABLE INCOME unless you want to throw off every red flag the government has.

That's why I'm in Real Estate, because I can claim ALL (Though I only do like 1/4-1/2 and claim the rest as losses to keep my bracket down) of my side money as stocks or some shit and use it legitly. Yeah I pay taxes on drug money but guess what, I can now put it in my bank account and not worry. I can go out and buy a 20k car right now and guess what, I have a paper trail.

'Cause fuck the government but fuck getting caught more.

I would just grow for myself for a few years before making a retarded choice like this. What happens when your yield cost the same as everything you've spent? Thieves? Feds? Bug infestation? What happens when you loose the entire crop to something so simple as spider mites? This is not a career, this is a gamble, and its fucking hard work for such a gamble! Wait till you have to trim 5 lbs by yourself before 1 week

Socal pound price is 1500-2500. The best strains going for 2500 don't yield shit.

Since this is your first grow. It will probably be crap. And you won't be able to move it.

You need to learn your at strains. Learn what they need. Learn how to read a plant. They need to adapt to their environment. You need to learn about building soil. It will take years. You won't get rich unless you arw growing thousands of plants and ship them out of state.

The problem with the market is there's all these newbies with million dollar facilities that can't grow for shit. They produce b.c.sters. Can't move it. So they drop the price so low that it becomes the standard regardless of quality. They're selling pounds at schwag prices.

With being a vendor to a dispensary , that won't happen unless you know someone and have an established relationship with that dispensary. Or you produce quality better than 90% of what's out there.

I've been doing it since the 90's and it's tough. Luckily I'm one of the very few in socal who grow true living organics and produce top quality and make some of the best Hash. It took me years to get to this point.
He's spot on ....simply......that is how it works......

Im not sure if cali is the same as michigan but people have to grow it on there own property and cant grow with other people on the same property or it would be considered a coop. (this is what ive been told so no solid proof)

Hey there, I have quite a few questions about the marijuana growing business here in SoCal. Bear with me as I am a newbie in this field.

My friends and I want to make growing Marijuana a career (we're all 18). One of my friends included in this goal, is very very rich, and his dad is letting us use his farm as long as everything we grow is legal (state wise). We all have our medical marijuana cards, which in Cali allows us to have 6 mature plants. We have 7 friends including me who are going to put our 6 plants on the farm, so we will have a total of 42 legal plants. We bought a Blackberry Kush clone the other day, and put it under 150w of CFL light, and a small fan, with a bowl of water in the box (the box is lined with foil so it's reflective thought the height of the plant, so the lightbulbs don't only hit the top). How much can we expect for this plant? A pound? It's going to be switched to a bigger box, with reflective plastic rather than foil, and a stronger light sorce (probably HIDs).

Now that you know how far along we are, I have some questions.

We want to treat this as a strict business, so we would go into dispensarys, and ask to become a potential vendor for their clinic, if they ask for a sample, we would happy give it to them. Once we sell the pound of the Blackberry Kush that we got from the clone, we're going to use that money to buy more clones, and some crazy strain seeds that are pretty rare here in SoCal (Maui Wowie, Borderliner, Alaskan Thunder Fuck, etc.). I know that these plants require different light schedules, so for the seeds that we buy we will made sure that they're auto-flowering females, and grow them outdoors.

So we came up with the base price at $3500 a pound regardless of how dank it is, that way we grow a quick relationship with all the dispensarys in SoCal, and eventually supply the delivery clinics as well. We wrote down on paper what to say when we call these dispensaries; so we sound professional and do not studder. We would dress is somewhat business casual. We want to show these guys that were serious about this and that we are not just a bunch of stupid kids who had good luck with a plant.

Now, if we grow a pound per plant, and sell it at $3500, $3500x42=147,000. We owe my friends dad who owns the farm a 90/10 split, he gets 10%(THATS IF WE SELL ALL THE BUD)
$147,000 is a fuck ton of money, so split by 7 would be still a fuck load of money. At that point we would build an actual grow room where we can keep the mother plants in the veg stage so we can clone them.

We have the trimming under control, because many of the kids we knew in highschool (we all just graduated) would trim weed for free as long as we smoke them out.

After awhile we would get the "growers permit" which allows us 99 plants per permit. We already decided that 400 plants is enough, and not to go over that due to the workload. 400x$3,500= 1.4million x 3 yields = 4.2 million, $420,000 would go to the farm owners for the 10% split. We're left with $3.78 million, divide that by 7 and we each get $540,000. After awhile with that money, we would buy another farm, and use more of the 99 plant growing permit, and have 400 at this farm. You get it, we're making a shit load amount of money.

So as you can see, this can become a real business, it would all be under the table yes, and keep it in cash, but it would still be a business.

Now my real question: I'm not trying to to jail here, so I want to keep everything legit and professional, so what I wante to do is create invoices for every pound we sell, so when Marijuana becomes federally legal, we can deposit the money we made into our bank accounts, that way if the government is like wtf, we can say we sold medicine, and we would HAPPILY pay the taxes on the time we grew where it was federally illegal. What's your take on this? Do you have any ideas? Let me know!

We're a super smart kids who took AP classes in highschool and all got 4.0 GPAs, and we smoke weed everyday. We're not lazy at all.
LOL...

By reading your number estimates I can tell that you haven't looked into your business idea very deeply. First off, you won't be getting 3500 a pound in cali. Especially not for outdoor. Second issue is you haven't included any expenses other than the 10 percent youll be paying your landlord. Soil, water, nutrients, containers, and plant support systems all cost you money. You haven't looked into what you'll be paying in taxes for vending to dispensaries either. In cali the i.r.s. has its hands deep in growers pockets. Do some research before you pull the trigger on this business venture.
