I see your point, but the op wants to carry it in her purse at times. One in the chamber and a pen on the trigger may lead to an accident with one in the chamber. Girls keep a lot of stuff in those purses and if anything can put three pounds of pressure on that triger with a round chambered then ya....you get the point.
Yes, I do. Totally understand. Holsters, weapons retention training, etc.

hammerless snub nose revolver. I have many pistols and this is what we decided on for my wife.
why a revolver?
no safety, no mag release, no chambering a round...just point and pull the trigger.

and alienwidow...you answered your own question

I'm looking to get a hand gun for concealed carry in my purse. And for inside my house should I ever need it there. And in my vehicle. What do I need? Someone recommended a Ruger LCR. Good choice?

I've shot hand guns growing up. Up to 38. My dad was a gun lover.
well hand gun u want stoping powering good grip nice feel
S&W M&P 9mm

the size of it is right for a hide a gun 9mm packs enough punch to stun/drop a person with 2 hits but the recoil will not be over loading so should be a good shot/control of it at even rapid fire

as for your house i would go a shotgun ......riot setting (as u will have that 9 in purse or on body)

the cocking of a shotgun is a world wide known sound that alone can end the fight .....and if not u have the power to go tho 1 wall but stop at the 2nd and choice of exotic ammo ( thunder bang rubber bullets/beanbags...or shots designed to kill close combat)

your car u have the gun u carry the 9mm........only thing i would add is a glass breaking /seatbelt cutting tool and a flashlight with tazer built in

but before u pick anything get a list up and go to a range/shooting club alot of the time u can rent the weapon to try it out (it is better then just picking up and feeling in store alot of them hate if u dry fire testing the trigger pull)

i got my old girl a colt defender. fit her hands and mine pretty good.
keep one in the chamber if you like, all my double action guns have a relatively heavy pull, my sig i think is 10lbs. a safety like a revolver, you gotta pull that bitch...

my "concealed" guns are full sized though. i like my Beretta and sig.
clean break, nice trigger. easy to break down, sig super easy to clean.
i dont like hammerless guns personally.

ive never really read into the benifit of a hammerless gun. Why would you want one besides maybe it snagging on clothing as your trying to pull it out?

I agree , when you have a hammerless weapon , if the spring wears out you no longer have a weapon that will fire. I have seen this happen to many times.

The small 380's like the lcp are good for concealing in a pocket but they aren't very accurate and need a lot of breaking in to be reliable. If your keeping it in the purse, size shouldn't really be an issue, you should get a full size gun. Try renting the M&P or a ruger SR9 or a glock and see what you like. A lot of people like XD's but I thought it felt weird in my hand.

Is it reliable and ok as far as safe?
Reliability.......revolver
Make sure you get yourself some high intensity shooting classes so you can see how you react in stressful/unexpected situations, a handgun is worthless if you freeze.
As for caliber 420god is speaking my tones.......380 is PERFECT for you, if you have to have alil more power we can add more grains to your bullets but ultimately it's how many you get on target that determines most scenarios, not the make or color. This to me is serious shit nowadays and i awenser it with the same seriousness.

I like semi auto pistols for concealed carry because you can leave the chamber empty but have 8 in the clip. To me a revolver is scary because theres always one in the chamber. At least you have to pull back the slide and chamber a round before you can accidentally shoot yourself  Also if you pull it out and slide one in the chamber most bad guys will run the fuck away real fast.
Go with one like my kel-tec 9mm. It is a auto based on revolver action. It is safe to carry in the chamber. It has been tested to drops of over four foot with no discharge. Only thing is trigger pull is really long. Takes time to get used to.

If it is a revolver carry with the hammer on empty cylinder.

Other than that, what is the point of carrying a un chambered weapon?
