I like the marshydro stuff too, I'm considering 3x300w in a 2x4 tent in thinking that will be more than enough for 5 or 6 plants.

I assume those are 150w actual. That's 56w/sq ft. That sounds reasonable for epi-whatever lights.

If you want to use it as a tanning bed, like the other guy, you'll need to add one more to get to 75w/sq ft. :)

I used T5s before switching to LED. Beautiful veg, can't really say I noticed a difference when I switched. Flower is another story... double. I did up the wattage by 20% but still.

As far as the Mars I think it's 140 draw. When talking about HPS we don't include ballast. When I'm playing with LED figures I calculate using output watts. After fan and driver loss it's probably about 120 watt output. The efficiency of these lamps, I don't know but efficiency is the final factor in figuring out how much lighting power is produced. They make it damn difficult to find the relevant information on the net. A lot of people like their Mars but I wonder if they've ever put them up against HPS or a decent LED for comparative results.

My beginner friends keep getting pretty good yields with the old "300w" panels. Nothing close to the 315w Agro bulbs, but still better than when I started with 250w HPS, CMH and CFL. The potency on their buds is really low though, not sure if it's due to them being beginners or if the lights are just bad, the buds are just not worth smoking.

I think these Chinese LEDs are just like the glass on dhgate. Once they saw the money in it they started making (relatively) better product. I have no plans to flower with one, but I'm just trying to decide which 3w "epi-whatever" ;) I'm gonna use in my veg tent. I have an awkward 3x3 tent so I can't use a 4' T5HO and am skeptical of a 2'..
I am well jealous of the DIY guys, when I have more cash and time I'd love to build something actually good lol

I've been growing since the late 80s and I've grown with hps, mh, t8,t5 and now led. Not saying it is the best or the end all when it comes to lighting but they are a viable source of lighting, plus the blurple looks kool. Besides their are more factors that determine yield and potency than just lights, I say buy whatever tech you feel comfortable with and just enjoy the art of growing.✌

People still throw away money for these Chinese units even though they are WORSE in every possible respect to a T5, MH, or HPS. Its completely insane. And then these morons come in and make claims that are clearly untrue, and attempt to justify their terrible choices repeatedly. Its like watching an alcoholic chug mouthwash, its really awful. Even having this amazing community to support them, and educate them, they make the wrong choice repeatedly. This is literally one of the only times there is an absolutely black and white WRONG choice, everyone with any common sense and ability to comprehend information can agree upon. MARS and other junk units are NOT worth the money, ever. At no time will they be better than your standard methods, they are junk, and always will be junk because fools will always purchase it and lie to themselves. Keep chugging that mouthwash...

For me it was basically the price, plus with a little due diligence, I found that most of the epi led lights were created equal regardless of price with a (few) exceptions.

I might end up just throwing a 2nd mars 300 in there. It's not a very big unit and I can easily run 2 in this tent. Heat is a non factor with these lights that's for sure.[/QUOTE]
Bonjour
It is quite dense for you?
It look like a sativa dom who stretch a lot for me...
I prefer this kind of dense node...

That is not dense node spacing. Those are stretched out bad from lack of light. You kinda are proving the point mars suck.

No, that's not what I was asking. Using an EPI led was the worst possible choice period. I don't care what flavor of worst. Mars vs Generic vs some other China Junk. Epi LED's are worse than T8, T5, CMH, HPS, worse than a real LED, AND MORE EXPENSIVE short term AND long term. The absolute worst and only unjustifiably expensive with zero benefits vs ANYTHING else. Why did you chose that?
That's proof of zero due diligence. There is not a single possible good reason to purchase the Mars unit. I was asking, what was your terrible reason to purchase it and why do you want to recommend a horrible option to somebody else? I want to know the psychology behind it, i'm fascinated why people chose to do the absolute worst possible things for themselves and their plants.
