this is my first indoor grow i usually always plant outside but figured why not try indoors this time instead of waiting till spring im using a 24w led grow light and 3 12w cfls is that enough for 2 plants?

I have thought of getting a 600w led grow light just short on cash also my grow space is 2ftW 2ftL 3ftH and what may happen when they get a lil further in veg with the amount of light there receiving now

250W HPS when you can swing it. That's all you need for that space.

They'll just grow slower and maybe start stretching from the little amount of light in there.

I've thought hps as well but have seen there's no difference between the 600w led or hps also my plants nodes are stacked and have very little spacing

A 600W anything is going to be overkill in my opinion. The area is to small. A 600W LED can burn your plants and a 600W HPS is a lot of heat and light with only 36" of height.

A five gallon pot alone is around 15" high.

A 300W LED or 250W hps is the way to go in my opinion. Lots of light, temps are easier to manage, and they run a bit cheaper. If you're planning on doing a bigger room down the road, a 400W hps would be better. A little more temp maintenance in that small of a room, but it'll smoke the 250 hps and 300 LED. Just my thoughts.

Alright what's usually cheaper hps or led also if I don't have enough light why are my plants staying short and not stretching or will they start to later on and should i post pics to show what I mean

I saw the pics in your other thread. They look close because the plants are small. Once they hit the growth spurt, they'll stretch out a little bit. Seedling stage nodes always stack on top of each other.

As far as cheaper, I just bought a 300W LED for $110 on amazon. I think 250 hps are a little cheaper. Fwiw, I've already noticed a difference in growth just from the LED being in there for 18 hrs. It is in conjunction with a 400 hps, but the new push is all LED.

Alright yeah I think was looking at that exact led light on Amazon like 2 days ago haha I'm highly thinking of getting it when I get some extra cash also how far should i keep that from plants and with my current set up I know this sounds like a stupid question but what kind of yield would I get with how much light I have if I were to finish my grow cause my plan was to possible have a female and a male and do a seed crop

Cause I think I have a male and a female cause in my experience males focus more on growing taller and females start slow

I keep it as supplemental right now. I'm still new to LEDs, so I'm experimenting. I have mine angled at 24" to the closest plant at the the bottom and 32" at the top.

As per your yield question, it's not that it's stupid, it's just not something anyone can answer.

That lighting will hold you back and maybe even cause problems down the road though. If you can get some more cfls in there, that would help at least.

Nice set up I dig it also last question how far would you keep a 24w led cause I read somewhere that it needed to be 3ft away is that too far?

As far as I know, it's all about PAR with LEDs. That's how they burn plants. If you had your readings, that helps a lot. Some can be 10" away, others 30" away. What size diodes?

From what I've gathered, 1W diodes can be put quite close. 8"-12". 3W diodes at 16"-20". Take all of this with a grain of salt as I just got my LED about 36 hrs ago. This is just from research. I'm still in the learning curve.

I'm not sure what size diodes it is I got it off Amazon as well it's listed under "Pot Wizard TM LED Grow Light" if you'd like to give it a look cause I couldn't find any info on that

Yea, it says to run them at 3 ft. I only saw the 12W though. Seems a little far but they say LED doesn't degrade as bad. The only way you'd really know is to test the distance. See how far you can push it.

It also says it can grow three plants with that bulb but it's only 12w do you think that's possible? Sounds far fetched to me but I'm gonna give it a go

Definitely won't cover 3 plants. Not even 1 to full term by itself. Just do what you can with the lighting to try and get more of it in there.

I love how everyone on this site is always "thinking about getting a 600W to 1000W HPS". Tell me, what the fuck is there to think about? Who has had a bad experience with these choices?
