How is it a upgrade?

All this talk of cob,in a lec thread....but yet "this argument is silly"

My Lil cob build is in the works,not for less power use,not for a hps/mh killer...just cause I want to.
Your argument was that people need to change COBs as soon as a new one comes out. That's silly. You can upgrade right away, later- or never and the chips you choose will keep producing.

As far as why it's relevant in any discussion about HID lamps, it's because that's what they'll be compared to from now on.

I'm running 315W CMH lights. I'm also running COB LED. I can see the handwriting on my walls every day. Would you rather I keep that info to myself, or do you think you and others could get some use out of it?

Starlight works fine, once concentrated enough.

Closer is only better to get intensity, then distribution becomes the limiting factor.

That's just a shit ton of reflectors and fiber optic arrays I think might draft a little suspicion, but I am seriously thinking about a minimalist approach, how better to conceal than reduce light output to where you can't see it from more than a few feet away? Weed cloaking.

Spray on organic light emission coating, most trim yhe bottom half or more of fan leaves. Other than the fact it doesn't exist what's stopping ya tt.

The two thousands are on a light mover. Sorry forgot to mention that. It kills the shady spots and allows better coverage. Didn't mean to confuse you guys into thinking they were covering that area stationary. Also 4 2bulb t5s mounted to the wall for side lighting.

It still isn't anywhere near enough light.

The more I study this subject, the more the LEC seems feasible -maybe even moreso than LED -for me. Why? Because I grow indoors during the colder months (when bugs aren't hopping around as much) and LEDs run so cool, I need to run a space heater in the room during the lights "on" period just to give enough temperature difference. So it's kind of robbing Peter to pay Paul to have LED and a heater going at the same time. That heater makes my electrical efficiency probably about the same as it would be if I just ran a hotter fixture and no heater, instead. That's what I'm thinking, anyway.

Depends on your priorities. Some people think cfl's are enough. But the t5s can practically touch before the benifit of proximity causes harm. Strike that just saw your local, sorry you don't get as much evap cooling.

Leds can be almost as close but there again to have them too close and too many photons blasting away not hitting anything or slamming into a leaf with such a reduction imparted on the leaf it is not only beyond need it can damage the leaf.

Drive leds harder to create heat. Effeciency loss but balance is possible.

The idea that power savings are the only advantage of COB LED is laughable.

Insulate your space better, blow more air past your lights and you'll be fine.

I have a hard-driven COB fixture (Timber Vero240) that runs the two emitters at 120 watts each...but the damn still thing runs too cool because of the Cooliance cooling system design! :)

No such thing as running COB LED too cool.
