You don't go from running military contracts to cleaning pools man. Youre full of shit
Military contracts are nothing special. Every piece of equipment on a soldier needs to be provided by someone. Every pin, badge, shirt, hat, etc. The military puts out specifications and requests for bids. Contractors go out and bid on contracts. If you get the bid you get the job.
We were manufacturing military namestrips for officer BDU uniforms along with plastic name tags for the class a? I think, It was a long time ago. Anyway, any time a person would go into a MCSS (military clothing sales store) and order the material namestrips for their BDU's the orders would come to us and we would manufacture the number requested and send them back to the MCSS for attachment to the uniforms.
This was back in Desert Storm and the marines were ordering THOUSANDS of namestrips for their desert uniforms. It was a busy time!!
I was running 4 tajiima sewing machines with 50 heads total. We could put out at least 1000 name strips an hour with much more if it was just the name of service rather than name of soldier.
The military contract ended. Even though the materials were supposed to be made in the USA by contract the next bid that came up was lower than materials and minimum wage could produce here in the states. Likely the new company was just subbing it out to some other country. Because I hate Chicago and I did not want to branch out to other embroidery I sold the machines and moved back to Phoenix where I like the weather much better.
You dont have to be in big business to make money in America.
