Questions about setting up my indoor growing

Why do you think its waste of power ?
He thinks that because he is... wrong.
Use as many watts as you can keep cool. Thjs time of year its not hard to keep stuff cool. Ive pointed a box fan at a bulb plenty of times to keep it cool.
Dont gimp your plants with low watt bulbs....

Stsrt strong, finish strong. Even HPS does fine in veg, just as MH does fine in flower. plants vegged in HPS produce a squat plant with large leaf structure. Plants flowered under MH are more leggy. Both are fine but there are differances. HPS is best for flower and MH best for veg unless you know what you want and how to get it generally.

Dont waste you time on floros if you can use HID

So you are saying that I can grow with as much watts as possible from the start and just make sure that the room is cooled ? Approximately how much degrees celsius should the room be ?

I was just trying to prevent him from burning seedlings up. Of course you could use HID from start to finish but with someone that hasn't grown a plant before, fluorescent lights are more forgiving.
And to be fair, I said "to me, using MH for seedlings is a waste of power." How could that be wrong?

Ok thank you all. So far so great. I got couple more questions ...
1.How much inches should be the distance from the lamp in every cycle ?
2.Do I need something to reflect the light ?
3.Some varieties that are more strong and forgiving ?
4.What soil to use so I don't burn them even before I put them under the lights ?

everyone seems to agree that fox farms soil works pretty good but is expensive. Any quality neutral potting soil will work.. Just make sure to add perlite for added drainage.
Depending on your set up, I'd get some type of hooded reflector or cool tube that you can use an inline fan to cool. If you're not going to use an inline fan, a regular winged reflector is probably the cheapest.
Just google marijuana strains suited for a first time grower. Some seed banks even tell you in the description if they're suited for first time growers. Northern Lights was a forgiving strain for me and is some decent smoke.

Inline fans can be used in tents or an open room.
You can try it that way.. Just make sure to keep your temps in an acceptable range.

It depends on how big you want them to get and how long you want to veg. Research SOG, SCROG, LST, etc.
For my first run in my new tent, I'm hoping to squeeze at least 4 LSTed plants under my 600w.

How long I want them to veg ? That means somehow I switch from veg to flowering ??? Please explain me how and what should be the lightness and darkenss ratio and how to control it. I know about the stressing techniques tho. Is LST really good ?
