I think it's a great ideal, but how do we bring this about?

Outlawing campaign finance breaks the chain of money between those who would profit from war to those who would start them, which is perhaps not the whole solution. But it's a start.

Which war are you talking about Joe?

Not Libya. I don't know what that was about but it wasn't because Libyan terrorists were about to invade the US.

Not Iraq war(s) Those were about US power abroad. Not defense.

Not Somalia. That was a humanitarian mission (sort of). Not defense

Not Grenada. I don't know what that was about.

Not Vietnam. Vietnam won. They didn't take the war to the US. Once we stopped killing them, they eventually became friendly to the US.

Korean War? Maybe, probably not.

WW2? Yeah, no argument there. Is a seventy year ago war what you mean of "worldly experience"? Are you 95 years old, Joe?

I mean, cold war involved drunken soldiers stationed abroad. The biggest risk was dying of boredom during those years. What worldly advice to you have for me Joe?

Thank fk for Japan attacking Pearl Harbor and finally bringing a Neutral country that had no real intention of joining the fight into the fray.

The war would of gone on for many more years and Europe would look completey different under Soviet occupation. Australia and New Zealand would of more than likely been in Japanese hands as well.

My starting point would be the arms industry.

Non profit.

After that it gets trickier but the likes of halliburton having ex board members in public office when our countries go into Iraq then getting big fat contracts once the shooting stops should be outlawed.

Same with 'Dragon skin', a type of body armor far superior to standard kevlar body armor. This stuff is what American soldiers should be wearing fighting wars.

It may limit mobility. Knights in shining armor were all but helpless if they fell off their horse, for just this reason.

That particular stuff is banned for use in battle.

I would think that basic gear and training costs would be fundamental to readiness.

That they are not tells me much about the priorities of those running our military procurement and supply chain.
