Looking to get into led heard great things about blackdog led and kind led and now I'm hearing the opposite from they actually put out alot of heat and small coverage area anyone have any input would really like to dabble in led but ONLY if it is worth the big market price

Any input will help even if it's recommending other sorce of light

Normally a sun grower** newbie to lights

you would probably do better with a DIY white LED. I have tried multi band LEDs as well as Cobs and led strip lights like the bridgelux EB strips and found that white LEDs perform better and the bridgelux strips are cheap and easy to work with requiring no heat sink if driven at 700ma or less.they are the most efficient LEDs on the market.I am a PU MMJ closet growers and have been doing test grows with LEDs for 3 years. in my veg tent and flowering closets I use T5s and still prefer them to LEDs. I live in the high dessert and my grow is legal but I still try to keep it as secret as possible. CMH bulbs are also very attractive if you can handle the heat produced by HIDs. when I need information about growing plants indoors I talk to horticulturalist or greenhouse operators. I prefer real science to the "bro science" I find in many of these chat rooms http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/guide3.shtml but is your heart is set on LEDs look into the bridgelux strips https://www.digikey.com/products/en?s=55345&v=976 a simple wood frame to hold them and a little soldering is all that is needed to build them and with a mean well driver your price per watt would still be a lot lower than the lights you asked about and heat per watt would be lower as well

sh*t vs sh*t... liars vs liars!
If you read what Black Dog claims on their website you understand quickly that they are just not honnest and professionnal... they say that they use osram 5w diodes because its better.. but which recent 5w diodes for horticulture exist!!???
Then, they use UV diodes... but from start to the end of grow because there is not option to disconnect UV and everybody knows that uv are usefull only the 2/3 last weeks of the grow...
So many bullsh*ts whit BDL... they sell a lot of lights but they have not enough money to pay an independent test made by a professionnal labotary... let me laugh!! ...no umol/j... no par watts numbers... no info on their diodes... etc... nothing!
This kind of product is made for pple that come directly from HPS technology... if you really like blurple, chinese products are far better because the price and the number of lights you can buy with the same amount of money!

Would it just be better to use somthing else like MH or HID? I want to cover a 15x13 foot area with the best available lights
Look into DE HID lights, best price per photon and great coverage area. You will end up paying way too much for LEDs in an area that size, LEDs are for hobby growers they are made for areas that are vertically challenged (like micro grows).

Skip both of those. Much better options for the money.... Kind is no more efficient than SE HPS and black dog isn't as efficient as DE.... That being said if you are in a tent forget DE hps ..... Umol/j it's what you are looking for in a good spectrum. 2.0+ is a minimum these days. If you see a company not advertise that metric it means they suck.

@Dr.Nick Riviera The thread is about one LED vs Another LED. Would you rather see these advertisers suggest the OP buys an expensive inefficient LED or recommend ones proven to be efficient? Which is the whole point of someone going the LED route in the first place.
You might not like LED but there is plenty of documented evidence to show that what has been recommended grows good weed and yields well.
