For fungal issues and easier harvest................it's not for increasing yields;)
In determinate varieties, there is a reason. The plant only grows one way. If there are a bunch of leaves well behind on the stalk they contribute nothing to production. Since the stalks on greenhouse determinate tomato plants can grow a long as 30' or more over the several year life of the plant, periodic defoliation becomes necessary to maintain production.

I thought determinate varieties are bush tomatoes? basically no training...................low/ zero experience with greenhouse production as you know. field guy here and don't do tomatoes, only in my personal container/urban gardens. I had a small crop this year honestly due to neglect

Those are indeterminate varieties. They aren't as good for greenhouse use because they don't have as long a production lifecycle and aren't as easy to trellis.

Will this fixture be UL, ETL rated for use in wet environments because of the inclusion of the lenses?
