White Working-Class Views

we didn't have many.

but the non-white workers all hated celebrating holidays, attending births, weddings, funerals and being patriotic.

they knew those were appropriated as things that only WHITE WORKERS do.
Damn! We had family reunions. Holidays were a big feast with lots of family. Fourth of July fireworks. Parades

OP, do you realize yet how transparent your WHITE WORKERS thread is, and its clumsy attempts to appropriate things to white "culture"?

we won't even get into "economic vulnerability", which affects families of color far more than you lazy whites.

i can only imagine how "politically marginalized" you feel as a white.

i live in a neighborhood of rapists who bring drugs. as such, i do not sit on my roof every fourth of july and enjoy all the neighborhood fireworks.

why? because mexicans hate america. they have calves like cantaloupes too (from hauling drugs). your state representative don young calls them "wetbacks".

is that what appeals to WHITE WORKERS? it must, since he got elected in your state by republicans like you.

Stop. I don't feel politically marginalized.

The Soros study concluded the Democrats have left whites in the dust.

funny, you started a thread claiming that WHITE WORKERS like you feel politically marginalized.

politically marginalized by us mean old democrats who have left you in the dust.

name the specific policies democrats have implemented which have caused you to feel this way. i mean actual policies, not the fact that democrats don't call mexicans wetbacks, rapists, and drug mules like the republicans WHITE WORKERS like you vote for.

Me personally? Why don't you peruse the article or the study and get a better idea for yourself. 400 in 4 different cities were all candidly interviewed and echoed similar sentiments.

I'm sensing you'd like to have a whack at just tearing down some of my views. No matter, I mirror some of the same grievances about the Democratic Party as the study participants.

I'm relieved they're actually looking at it in the sense of fielding candidates that attract a broader base. There's hope.

yes. tell us specific democratic policies that have "left you in the dust" as a WHITE WORKER.

as a WHITE WORKER myself, i have never felt "left n the dust". on the contrary, our annual max for health care went down because of obama, so most of our birth stuff has been free. god forbid we get nto pre-existing conditions and lifetime caps.

but do tell me about the policies that have left YOU in the dust, WHITE WORKER.

I'm gonna speak in general terms here and leave it at that.

I've been reminded throughout my working career to vote my wallet over my conscience. And I did many times as what would be described more or less as a blue dog Democrat. As I matured and began paying more attention to politics and policies and laws enacted I found I aligned more with a conservative viewpoint than a liberal one. As an individual I too like many am a contridiction on some views as far as what I support not being conservative. Cannabis being the most obvious. I'm registered undeclared, I'm not loyal to a party. I vote in local, borough, state and federal elections. I vote my conscience for each candidate.

What were some of the few cultural traditions you experienced?

Alaska as a whole is fairly isolated and I'm not in a metropolitan area.

What is "white" culture? Good question, hard for me to define and probably unique to everyone. I'll take a shot though.

Mom, Chevy, apple pie baseball to start. Celebrating holidays. Attending births, weddings, funerals. Being patriotic.
So nothing unique to this country or its people? Sad that white culture is different from American culture.

My impression of white American culture was that if you worked hard, respected people, and dealt honestly you could get along with anyone in this country and get ahead. When people see that those rules don't apply to good ole boys or the establishment you get backlash. Why that backlash is aimed at minorities and Democrats I don't know.

Pretty much the same way interwar Germany's problems got blamed on Jews. Lies were told and a good portion of the population was stupid and mean enough to believe it.
