Good CO2 Flow
Good Air Flow
Day 5 of flower

This is my first Grow using LST and Super-Cropping. My first grow using any techniques, truthfully. There are only 6 branches coming off the trunk, each producing about 20 colas each. I have read a good amount on defoliation during flowering,and how the results are tremendous. However, I also have reputable growers like Kerovan who stay away from any leaf removal.

Could I get some more opinions just to get a solid base arguement for defoliation during flowering and how it pertains to MY plant, not necessarily the plants YOU have grown.


The pictures provided don't clearly show, but there are plenty of colas not receiving light.

I tried it and buds were dense but they stopped growing they stayed short .. Might have been genetics but I’m blaming it on defoliation cuz they were doing good than the next thing I know they stopped.. So it’s up to u to try I did just so I could find out ... Like stated above NO BUENO

Leaves are the engines of the plant. If you're not getting good enough light penetration then get more powerful lights, grow smaller plants, train your plants differently, etc... I get huge rock hard buds and hardly any fluff without the need to trim a single leaf as do many people.

This is what I know. When I do a third week defoliation my yields are better and the ripeness of buds more uniform. I'm no expert and don't claim to be but that's just how I do it. I could cut and paste things to back my opinion but really, what's the use? I don't think a leaf shaded by another leaf is doing much good so I snip one. Like I said, I don't go nuts with it cutting every leaf but I do thin it out considerably. I respect you and your opinion but it's just what works in my arena.

cool story, remember to flush with molasses for 2 weeks at the end,then boil the roots and put it in the dark for a week. should fix all your other mistakes.

Anyone encouraging defoliating as a practice in Newbie Central is creating more problems than you are solving. You guys who win over a newbie to cut off leaves are just benefiting the trolls. Trolls would love nothing more than to get a newbie to cut off leaves, probably more fun than getting them to flush.
I believe there can be benefits to doing it but only if you are a good enough grower that those leaves are not needed as food for the upper growth. Meaning you need to keep the plant heathy to harvest, something more than half of you probably can't do.
LMAO! I was going to ask if I should flush before or after I defoliate. ;)

U lot are all mixing up different opinions. Why don't you just rely on what feels right. People have had good results doing it, and good results not.
I think trimming is a budget benefit, we all haven't got £1000 pound top tech led, we haven't got optimal grow spaces. What I'm saying is people that don't trim sun leaves during flower still more than likely trim the bottom part off canopy. And a reason this is done for circulation and to remove branches that don't or won't reach the canopy.
Trimming all over the plant is a similar thing but remember your a 600w doesn't penetrate as much as a 1200w, but now as time has past people have created different techniques, I done my first ever grow 15yr ago, u couldn't get 2000w lights back then.
It's the same with the way we grow, soil, hydro etc if u have 2 10lt buckets 1 soil and 1 in hydro I guarantee the hydro will grow bigger from optimising oxygen, nutes, stress is easier to rectify.
All these methods have been created through different opinions.
Watch some vids on YouTube off both ways looking for very similar set up to ur own and then go with your instinct.
Your plant looks cool, plenty of tops, if you look at similar plants they have pulled good yields.

We did it back in the eighties thinking it would push all the resin in

Some of us did it back in the eighties when we were teenagers growing bagseed behind the rhododendron in the back yard hoping our mom wouldn't find our plant. It was supposed to make the resin flow into the buds. We didn't know any better and we never really got any decent buds and were constantly defoliating and smoking those fan leaves. This was before there was a wealth of information available online and cell phones were the size of a shoe box.
Ah, to be young again.

Lol my mum found my first grow and watered them with bleach.
I didn't know what had happened til she told me when I moved into my own place.
