How is that even remotely possible? It goes against everything Ive come to learn and know in the grow room.thanks..
here is quote from another led thread:
"I've a friend on another forum who builds and sells COB lighting. He has been experimenting with gradually lower the amount of light in his garden, and his yield has been increasing...."
>due to my own recent observation i am starting to think this is possible..
Enlite sundisk?id have to guess its the HLG550 unless they are letting the Elite out of the labs
In the 80's and 90's in Lebanon this has been a popular method. The plants stay up in the field, ripen and dried finally after a few extra weeks. This caused, among other things, the reddish color of the resin.i am not young...my first hydroponics/hid was in1979..i do not consider myself the last word on anything..and never will
nor should you consider cannabis "docktalk" as carved in stone ....
i STILL believe there are many things we believe as conventional wisdom that
may not be a fundamental truth..
and as always "yer milage may vary"
latest "test" is running a plant to 24 weeks that looks done at 12 weeks ..oh yeh and under 5000k..and no i never look at trichs
the gist is it ripens on the vine.stillis growing bow at 15 wks...the cannibinoids become more than just what we have come to know as finished cannabis..nextstage is all the leaves eatthem selves then the sugar leaves next,[i hear]
the buds turn red [starting now] then turn gold at finish
feel free to laugh away..if i do not laugh at myself sometimes ..i feel i have a problem LOL

Sounds very delicious, mate! Yummy!
i dunno really..just that i ran my leds really close and yeh they grew well..but one shorter same cut plant i stuck in thereI too have been growing for a long time. Almost 30 years of near nonstop indoor and outdoor serious cannabis growing. I never take in what I hear as gospel...only what I find out from my own experience. Your post and claims of gradually lowering light levels in the growroom and actually increasing yield just piqued my interest is all.
I believe this friend spoken of in the other quote by old mother sativa is someone who is a friend of mine as well. He and I have been discussing this less is more theory. all I've always gotten is your same reaction how is this possible. Goes against everything. Right now I have a 4x8 less than two weeks into flower running a hair under 20 watts per sq ft and have the best looking run of photos I've had since I had my hoods and HID's up before going down the cob rabbit hole. We shall see what the yield is but I'm literally sitting here looking at my garden and thinking the same as you. What are we missing because this goes against everything we know. I'm also feeding a lot less than the recommended amounts. I have (12) 59 watt cobs in an over sized 4x8 and the plants are loving life. How is that even remotely possible? It goes against everything Ive come to learn and know in the grow room.
Depends on where he is starting from - if he is starting from a point where he is giving them more light than they can reasonably absorb, then this is a very likely scenario. He has been experimenting with gradually lower the amount of light in his garden, and his yield has been increasing...."
If the light source never changes how would that happen?Depends on where he is starting from - if he is starting from a point where he is giving them more light than they can reasonably absorb, then this is a very likely scenario.
Uhh... he said he is lowering the amount of light. If the light source never changes how would that happen?
Right and then the light is the same. Just lowering watts from one grow to the next. And distance to canopy is maintained throughout.Uhh... he said he is lowering the amount of light.
Yeah, that's generally the way "lowering the amount of light" works. I got that. Just not sure what you meat by "If the light source never changes how would that happen?" The light source is changing by being dimmed.Right and then the light is the same. Just lowering watts from one grow to the next. And distance to canopy is maintained throughout.
I think we just misunderstood each other man no biggie I'm not trying to pick a fight lol.Yeah, that's generally the way "lowering the amount of light" works. I got that. You said that and what I was saying is after the lights are set how would this happen, but I see now you're talking about one grow to the next.Depends on where he is starting from - if he is starting from a point where he is giving them more light than they can reasonably absorb, then this is a very likely scenario.
