That's an awesome story man, gonna remember that one. Similarly, I stopped watching TV in general about 2009-2010. The 'no more commercials' thing for me was huge, I tried watching a few news shows the other week and that lasted about 15 minutes, The format for news used presently is retarded, everything super sensationalized and dragged out ad nauseum with about 45% of the content time dedicated to advertising, it is insane, without question. I dont think people realize what all that shit does to your brain and stress levels, cortisol levels, blood pressure etc. There is also what I would call a "psychic overhead" to all that advertising, negativity, violence and general BS. Within a couple months I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my consciousness, sort of weird to try and describe. I constantly tell people to ditch the cable tv, you can get everything you need off the internet and commercial free. When I do occasionally see a commercial for something these days it just fills me with disgust. lol. Another thing I noticed is that when I do watch something it's whatever I want to watch and whenever I want to watch it, but in addition I study the program in much more detail and am much more engaged with what I am watching.
As a kid in Canada we had access to a lot of British TV which in retrospect was awesome, however Doctor Who, (which I watched like my life depended on it) was broadcast to us Canucks on? you guessed it PBS! The Doctor has been with me my entire life, for real. Jon Pertwee/Tom Baker (3 and 4th Doctors) back in those days. Fond memories. PBS is needed more than ever now. I hope it survives the current administration. I am sure it will. I think. Maybe.
