WP: “The 21st-century Russian sleeper agent is a troll with an American accent”

“WASHINGTON — Not long after Marat Mindiyarov started working at the Internet Research Agency, the Russian troll factory indicted by the U.S. Justice Department on Friday, he began hearing about the coveted “Facebook Department.” There, workers could earn more money and work alongside a younger, hipper crowd. But to gain entry, job candidates had to prove they could seamlessly insinuate themselves into the American political conversation.

The English-language test, which Mindiyarov said he took in December 2014, included a question about vegetarianism and another about Hillary Clinton and the prospect that the Democratic front-runner would win the U.S. presidential election.

Mindiyarov, 43 and a teacher by training, wrote that Clinton had a good chance of winning, and that it would be a remarkable feat, making her the country’s first female president.

“You didn’t pass the test,” the woman who administered the exam told him later that day, he said, although it wasn’t clear if his shortcoming was imperfect English or failing to bash Clinton. Either way, Mindiyarov remained stuck with the less-glamorous job of commenting on articles posted to Russian websites and quit three months later from a job he compared to something from “1984,” the dystopian novel by George Orwell.”

I’m trained in Counterinsurgency, including recognizing the signs of an insurgency. I had an IQ of just under 150 in elementary school. I’m just trying to keep everyone here safe. If you guys want to make an ass out of me, fine, but it is your interest I have at heart.

“A counter-insurgency or counterinsurgency[1] (COIN) can be defined as "comprehensive civilian and military efforts taken to simultaneously defeat and contain insurgency and address its root causes".[2] An insurgency is a rebellion against a constituted authority when those taking part in the rebellion are not recognized as belligerents.[3] It is:

‘the organized use of subversion and violence to seize, nullify or challenge political control of a region. As such, it is primarily a political struggle, in which both sides use armed force to create space for their political, economic and influence activities to be effective.[2]’”

If I end up in prison soon, it’s because I trusted someone on this site who I didn’t recognize at the time as potentially partisan to the insurgency effort. Keep vigilant, guys.

I wonder who pays the bogans to defend the Communist Party of China down under.
Hey, maybe I’m wrong. One thing’s for sure: He and I were alright until I called TheGreenGreek out. Then, he attacked me out of nowhere, and even other people were like “WTF?” It wasn’t until last night when we were arguing about China’s atolls that I put two and two together. I probably caused his comrade trouble with their commander, maybe even cost him his job or position, and that’s why he lashed out. Maybe if they’d stay the fuck out of my/our country’s affairs and worried about the corruption in their own while we figure ours out, we wouldn’t be having this conversation and everything would be cool.

I suspect he’s Chinese and running a dedicated VPN through Australia, but I have nothing to corroborate that.

He did say “of cause” instead of “of course.” I imagine one could sound like the other to an Asian listening to the colloquialism in an Aussie accent.

He also makes a point of pointing out that he’s an Aussie. And he could be in the Aussie section as a cover.

Look, guys. I definitely don’t want anyone to be unfairly or unrighteously accused of being a political operative. I don’t want it to become something anyone just slings around. If you’re a Republican voter and you aren’t a foreigner pretending to be someone else, you shouldn’t have to tolerate such accusations. I hold off on accusing anyone until I’m very sure, and if I’m not? I’ll say “I can’t be sure.” I just want everyone to be safe, and I want the shit that’s disrupted and ruined our sociopolitical landscape since starting around 2014-2015 to end. The divisiveness, the spread of disinformation.. I want fucking peace. That’s all.

If someone who is from a foreign country, foreign to whatever country they are talking about, spends his time making a concerted effort to push hateful and divisive rhetoric intended to incite and persuade, and then shows obvious signs that their character doesn’t match what they claim, it should make anyone suspicious enough to give due consideration. It’s cool to debate politics, I’m not equating pushing propaganda to political debate & disagreement. But when it’s clear there’s an agenda, it should be given consideration. Being how intelligent I know a lot of you are, I find it strange that some of you were so quick to brush off and overlook what I was pointing out, especially with as much respect as I really do have for most of you.

Everything I know, I can attribute to most everyone here, and I am grateful for you all. I just want everyone to have a fair and safe place to enjoy this hobby, free from subversion.

See, I don’t hate Republican voters (Although, I hate most Republican officials; particularly because of the Drug War and their investments in for-profit prisons and Big Pharma, putting money and corporate greed above the welfare of the People they serve.) Some of them are legitimately just expressing what they feel their country desperately needs, and that is American as fuck. What I have an issue with is people who are knowingly and intentionally subversive and manipulative, with clear understanding that they are pushing an agenda rather than expressing themselves.

I hate corruption, and in my opinion, THAT is the biggest issue our country and the world faces. On both sides of the aisle, too. I hated Hillary nearly as much as I hated Trump. Buck’s a Hillary voter and I’ve expressed my disdain to him. He’s not shoving Hillary down my throat or telling me I shouldn’t feel that way. We are not coordinating at all, I just get along with everyone.

Look: I didn’t call Twostrokenut or Jeep-dude foreign political operatives, because they didn’t really ping my radar. I’m not trying to oust Republicans by declaring all of them Russian spies/trolls. Just those who actually show signs that they’re probably Russian spies/trolls.
