They are stepping up the violence. It's always the other side that goes to the morgue or the hospital. Fascists are outnumbered 4 or 5 to 1 at counter demonstrations in Portland. You'd think that fascists would stop flying in from all over the country if they were trying to convince us of something. Instead, they keep coming and now are bringing guns.

In the early morning of Aug. 4, hours before a massive waterfront protest, Portland police officers discovered a group of Patriot Prayer supporters on the roof of a parking garage in downtown. According to a description provided in the mayor's proposed ordinance, the men had a "cache of firearms," which a mayoral staffer would later describe as "long guns."
They are preparing to open fire on us. The large crowds opposing them is scaring them and Proud Boys are stepping up the threat of injury or deaths from their actions.
But antifa are winning the strategic battle. The people who run city government see us, locals, showing up in mass gatherings while the other side isn't from around here. So, now, our city is looking in to how to stop a group with a violent history from getting permits for demonstrations.

Wheeler says that his ordinance will be “reasonable and content neutral,” and won’t target one side or the other. “This is not a partisan issue. This is not about ideology,” Wheeler said. “This is about delivering a strong, principled and unified message that we will not tolerate violence in our community.”
The regulations Wheeler proposed Monday would issue "reasonable time, place and manner restrictions." The proposal would give the police commissioner greater tools to keep the peace and protesters separate, the city attorney said.
They are sorting out the legalities and legal challenges will come from fascists who don't like the idea of peaceful demonstrations but eventually, we'll bottle them up so they can't hurt anybody. Make them look foolish too. If they can't maintain order, which they can't, we'll have the right to deny them permits altogether.

From what I can get her, the proud boys are republicans who embrace nazism, whereas anti-fascists are peaceful civilians who oppose fascism and don’t drive their cars into crowds of peaceful protesters

Not one person hospitalized, nobody dead from Antifa. Proud Boys have several deaths, many more hospitalized including two cracked skulls from their skilled use of batons made from poles that carried the US flag. Fascists like Bugeye see opposition to fascists and fly into a red rage.

The mayor is quite reasonably looking in to legal means of preventing them from getting demonstration permits.
