I can’t tell if these trichomes are cloudy?

@Hugo Phurst would you mind showing me on a picture , I learn quickest and best that way, where is the Calx, like the joint?

The pistols ? Bc I used to think I wait til they are orange. Simply I guess tell me where and what to look for via picture if you’d be so kind? I googled it but I like facts from people ya know

@Hugo Phurst thanks man! Last one here, as I have noticed something great!

I use a 400 watt mh for veg and see a lot of stretch bc I can’t get close , in my clone room I use Led (I think it’s 250 watts) I see no stretch (see comparison pic)

Are you familiar with LeD lights and if so what would you recommend for a 4x5 space? How many watts , what brand?

Take a picture of the whole plant and some closer shots of just the buds and we can start from there. You should not be worrying at all about trichomes for many more weeks if your only 4 weeks in.

BTW Is that 4 weeks from when they started flowering, or from when you switched the lights to 12/12?

I haven't checked a trich in years.
When I look at a bud and MOST of the hairs are brown (they will get darker as the bud dries) and I say's to myself, damn that bitch would look good in the bottom of my bowl, that's my method of telling when it's ready to be chopped :)

Yeah its been years for me as well. I remember the anticipation when I was new just dieing for that first harvest, and not wanting to mess it up. People don't realize how hard it actually is to over ripen plants. Then they cut them weeks to early because they are nervous.

@Thundercat 4 weeks from when I changed the light cycle to 12/12, they showed flowering signs if I left them in veg a little longer as I topped them. I will get PIctures come tomorrow, thank you !

Ok so they showed sex in veg that's great! That means they were genetically mature enough to flower.

Then how long did it take for the actual flowers to form? Maybe 7-14 days? That is when flowering began. So it is likely about 3 actual weeks into flower.

Many strains need 8-10 weeks to properly ripen, some need more. There is no set number and each phenotype of plant is different.

Your plant needs minimum 4-6 more weeks. It could even need more then that, but we won't know until we see the plant, and watch how quickly it progresses.

@Thundercat here are some pics and I feel the light Ian no good for what we are trying to determine, I have to get better pics when lights are off. That last picture is a different strain and at a tad slower pace than the rest

They look exactly like I expected. They look healthy enough from again can see, great job. It looks like a hybrid plant so I would expect it to take 8-10 weeks of actual time flowering to rippen.

Your biggest job now is keeping it happy and healthy for that long :). It will change tremendously, and the buds should fill in much bigger. Don't even think about looking at trichomes again until 90% or more of the stigma(pistils) have turned reddish and receeded back towards the buds. At that point take more pictures and post them so we can tell when it's actually ready.

Typically plants need roughly 2 weeks to ripen AFTER the stigma change. In that time the buds won't get much bigger outwardly but they pack on weight by swelling internally. This is also when you can look at trichomes if you want, but trichomes are the last indicator a plant gives that it's finished, not the first.

@Thundercat how about nutes. I am currently mixing 2 tbsp of bloom from organic grow box and some other additives into a gallon of water as per instructions for heavy feeding (started light) I do this every other day. Should I do more or less? (Also give it a quarter spoon of big buds)

Thanks for all the help, I’m just trying to grow as best I can. So if you have any last words on nutes you recommend and how to use them I’m all ears lol.
