This goes back to what I said about people acting in a way that they are being treated. Your attitude about not caring about what people are going through get reflected in their not caring about the trouble you and your business/family go through when they act shitty about paying their rent to you instead of using the system when it benefits them.

I deal with thousands of families I give them safe clean and wonderful housing I cannot get emotionally involved in every single one of them or I couldn’t do my job. There’s an emotional detachment that you need to do in order to survive in this business because everybody has a sob story

You have people that you are saying are not qualified to live in the places that you have setup. Do you turn them in and have them investigated? No you collect that check and cash that. How old are you btw? How long ago did your parents die?

No they’re qualified because they have their disability checks and they have disability they’re the right age they have limited income. No I don’t have any authority to find out why they’re driving a Mercedes-Benz when they’re living in government housing that’s not up to me. I bring it up to the government and they’re not interested.

Being decent is not necessarily an emotional response or lack thereof. Everyone has a sob story, but that doesn't mean in the time of a pandemic you should detach yourself from reality. Think more longterm instead of just in the moment of what your returns are in the short term.

I just don’t get all sad and shit over the notion of them being poor victims because I see them selling dope and working the system all day long. Disability is not what it used to be. And I’m also a duel citizen, overseas getting a disability assessment is not like here in America. Just because they say you don’t have to work doesn’t mean that you don’t have the choice to work. I'd say 20-30% AT LEAST are able to work, but choose not too. And many of them still do work, under the table. My own brother is one of them. His only real disability is he has a gambling and alcohol problem.

The cost to renovate a trashed housing unit can be in excess of $5,000, as opposed to a few hundred to clean.

That leaves 70-80% that are legitimate, which when you factor in all the govenerment incentives to not screw that far larger proportion over the landlord can still turn a profit by not being a dick to the relatively small proportion of people who would try to screw the system. If people are shitbags, what can you do they will always be that way.

Might as well focus in on taking care of their children and help them to become the best citizens they can be for the several decades that they will pay taxes that far exceed the amount their shitty parents scammed from the system.

Sell the property and quit crying if thats how you feel about your tenants. Its college kids, they party. I'd say they helped you out. At least you get to keep the security deposit instead of being out any but of money you can get. Noones renting a college apartment for a minute lol

Kids sit down we need to talk. We’re losing the house, the car, and my job. So even though we won’t have money for food, and I don’t know when you’re going back to school or see your friends again. BUT we’re all going to spend our time cleaning this place up so the 19 year old “student landlord” doesn’t have so much damn work to do.
