lol tbh drywall is like 8th on the list with this house. I am just looking to be able to water plants in the back yard without having to piece together several hoses at this point. I am afraid of going into my basement to see what my cats did in the 'Michigan Basement' we have.

Crawl space or basement makes it easy and put a new shut off somewhere easily accessible. The newer frost free faucets are badass. You can run a new line to anywhere with a little bit of pex and a shutoff

I must admit I was a bit sceptical of pex at first, now I love the shit. Same with the shark bites, my step father who's a union plumber finally convinced me they're fine, just leave them accessable. I had a few leaks with slip fittings but no failures. Did you know they apso make a shark bite specifically for the old grey plastic in trailers?

Poly B is a huge problem here and shark bites have their use just to fucking expensive here for someone that knows how to solder lol. If draining then line is an issue then I’ll grab a shark bite or pex

Plumbers in California cost about 125 dollars an hour. I figure the cost of the slip fitting 10-15 bucks is nothing compared to the labor. Don't get me wrong, I would never plumb a home in slip fittings, but for remodeling they are priceless. The only soldering i do now is to weld a pex connection to copper. Also some mixing valves require a copper pipe to the tub spout, I believe the pex is too narrow and forces water up to the shower head giving you an unwanted water feature. Is poly b, that grey shit?

Yes the grey shit and yes I agree with you re pex. I’m only doing hydronic stuff mostly (no potable) so we are concerned with pressure drop and pex fittings are pretty restrictive. Most of our primary loops are still done in copper with zones mostly pex.

It sure is a nice way to heat. You'd be hard pressed to find a cold corner in a home with hydronics. I burn about 3.5 cords of wood to heat 1300' sq. Which isn't too bad, but the back bedroom stays pretty cold.
