Possible PH or Calmag problem?

Good day guys

I am a first time indoor grower but have grown some outdoor plants for a while.

My seedlings are currently at day 10 and have shown some weird colour issues which I'm not sure if it could be the ph or maybe a calmag issue.

I'm growing in a 80x80x160cm grow tent using a 110w QB LED light. I haven't given the babies any nutrients yet and I'm using an organic coco growing medium known as Freedom Farms Premium Soil which they only recommend to start feeding extra nutes from day 20 onward. They suggest watering with a ph of 5.5 to 6.0 which I have been doing.

Any advice would be appreciated

Coco gets treated like a hydroponic plant....PH ranges are 5.8-6.2 ish I try to stay low in veg near 5.8 then move to 6.1 in flower. Coco also needs to be feed daily sometimes multiple times a day.
Okay thank you. So you suggest I should raise the ph to at least 5.8 and should start feeding them grow nutrients?

Man there is a lot of coco threads today. I have nice green plants in Pro Mix that are 10" tall and have never been fed yet. I don't think I will ever experiment with coco because it's so finicky and I'm so lazy. We'll see what the coco experts have to say.

I’ve never used it either soil is too easy. Nothing better than watering and knowing I’m good for 3-4 days. :bigjoint:

Those are the early days of magnesium issue by the looks of the tiger stripe like impressions on the leaves. They will soon look like rust. Im gona say i reckon its a ph issue in the medium. See if you can test the medium itself or the run off. If you using freedom farms looks like iv got another saffa on the forum lol. Iv had ph issues with FF before too, i havent even fed my plants it just throws the ph off

My guess is that freedom farms is too hot as a medium, iv been using just cannabis craft soil and have had better results so far seems like less ph issues than the freedom farms. Too bad its R170 a bag too lol

Looks like soil. I assume Ph needs to be higher if thats the case. P, Ca, Mg suffer if low.

Ingredients: Coco Coir, Worm Castings, Compost, Perlite, Vermiculite,Volcanic Rock Dust, Bone Meal, Gypsum, Dolomite Lime, Kelp Meal, Organic Nutrients

Hydro or coco only. (Coco/perlite is ok.)

Did you treat the coco prior to planting?
If not, you are likely going to see some issues with Ph and cations binding to coir. This is annoying but can be fixed with a solid Ph water rinse. (I hate the term flushing).
You are also going to see Cal, Fe and Mag deficiencies as these in free radical form bind so easily to coco.

Solution. Rinse and I recommend a slightly lower Ph of 6.2-6.3 for Coco.

Best of luck!

Yes you are correct, South Africa lol. To be honest bro, I don't know what to do at the moment. Maybe adjust ph and see what happens.

The amount of “help needed” posts from 1st time growers running autos in coco has been staggering lately. I’m really curious why so many new growers seem to think this is the way they should to do their first grow.

Thanks for the advice, I'll adjust ph to 6.2 for every watering from here on forward. I usually watered with a ph of 5.5 which freedom farms recommended but that might have been too low

Maybe they hear “bigger plants” “better weed” “just like hydro”

As soon as I found I out I couldn’t use it straight out of the bag, I was like wtf this isn’t for me. Feeding constantly and needing RO water. All turn offs.

I had the exact same problem when i grew in this soil, funny hey, these expensive soils are often way too "hot" with nutrients
