Best LED for high yield small space

Wanting to build 4x4 6"11 height or 5x5 tent or 7"11 with there is so much conflicting information when it comes to best quality lights as of-course results can be

subjective have some experience but am certainly no expert so I'm keen to get some expert opinions.

What are my options for maxing out my limited space i understand this will require CO2 so the plants can actually use all the additional light.

Budjet 3-4k.

Opinions on Black dog LED or is this really outdated & overpriced tech with spectacular marketing?

with their Phytomax-2 1000 LED they achieve 3p + in a 4x4 space which seems massive considering the space.

Is anyone getting large yields in limited space with LED

Other brands i have looked at are HLG , Fluence, Spydr, Scynce, Gavita

Stick with these brands ^^^. The Black Dog and Phytomax are exactly as you described and not worth the investment.

This will flower a 5x5 nicely. Or you could go the DIY route.

Plenty of people getting great yields from that size space with LED. This is an HLG sponsored thread, but lots of great info and photos. If you jump to the last page you will see some pretty awesome results people have posted. There is also a different thread for Chinese knockoffs, and some other ones for strip builds.

I was a hps growers for more than a decade and I just switched to LED
i got a 4x4 tent and got the growcraft x6 and I love it so far. Bought the kit and it was much cheaper than pre built also found discount code that gave me an extra $100 off. Fills the room perfectly. Nice even light. Also the driver can be kept outside the room which helps with heat if you are in a hot area which I am.

Out of curiosity what were you yielding with your hps? Was it a de hps?

I was getting about a gram a watt at the end. I probably started around .5g a watt but you learn a few thing over a decade. I had the usual 600w switchable ballast MH veg/ HpS flower. my last grow with that set up I got 650grams of dry bud and I made cookies with the clipping. Thats
with LST Which Really increased my yield .

Crudlord I have two Black Dog LEDs, a 200 for veg and a 1000w for flower. I couldn't be happier with the lights and my results are getting better with every grow.

Don't believe the stories you hear on this forum, Black Dog is the most powerful light in the 1000 watt range and will give you the most yield in your 4x4 space.

this is my first LED grow but so far it’s amazing. I lived in Canada so I never had heat issues with my setup in my basement but now I’m in the south so I really appreciate LEDs and the higher room temp they need. about To switch to flower but the veg has been super successful. I’ll let you know in 3 months if I like it better than HPS but so far it’s been better. The spread of light is perfect for the 4 x4 tent and I like that you can keep the driver out of the room cause that mofo get hot. for some reason I thought I would have more stretching with led but that’s not the case. Plants look super happy so far. Thumbs up fo the growcraft x6,. The kit was super easy to build too and much cheaper than prebuilt

Plenty of peeps pulling weight in tight spaces with led, mate. My last grow yielded 630g dry with a diy 400w cob build, in a 2x4 tent.

If you're willing to screw a few things together you'll end up with a far better light than any pre-built fixture.

So what lighting are you running do have any photos of your build?

those are definitely are some impressive results

My concern around kits is just not having done it before is it literally just a few screws or is there soldering and stuff required?

Any opinions on SpiderFarmer s4000 or Meiju?

Mostly a soldering iron is not required these days, sometimes with cobs it is if you don't use the appropriate holder.
With strips and boards it strip a wire and poke it in.

Very little to it now and lots of people to help if you need it.

As far as alibaba go , if you want a warranty worth anything then avoid it, lots of people feel the cost saving is worth the lack of warranty that's your decision but don't get fooled into thinking they are going to pay for it to be shipped back to china and repair their product.
There have been occasions of people having a fault 6 month into a year warranty and been told they can have 50% discount on replacing the item because they are 50% through the year warranty. Thats not how warranties work in the real world.

Don't waste your time on Co2 unless your going to build a sealed room with fully controlled heating and cooling and dehumidification

Can you recommend any DIY COB guides or builds that have netted good results?

in reference to running CO2 my build is going to be a tent so provided its a quality tent this should suffice arround being sealed?

as for heating, cooling and dehumidification i was planning on doing this regardless of CO2 as it nets the best results.

ares cobs better/worse then samsung diodes or just completely different LED is a god damn rabbit hole and no one agrees

A tent is not air tight so you could run Co2 but some of it is going to be wasted.
Most growers just run extraction to remove heat, replenish ambient co2 levels and remove humidity.
New growers wouldn't even be able to take advantage of co2 anyways , takes experience and a dialled in grow room to be already producing top shelf buds and top out your harvest before co2 is needed.

However if your set on running ac to control the heat and dehumidifiers to lower RH with no other extraction then co2 is a must have.
However it doesn't negate the need for a fan and filter if smell is an issue, which it usually is.


DIY COBs you can check out growmau5's 7 part series on building them. Though prices may be well out of date and tech has moved forward since then the basics still apply.

You will have to look through his vids for all of them.

You can essentially do the same thing with both, but its often more cost effective to go with strips as its cheaper to hit higher lumen per watt with Samsung or bridgelux strips than it is to do the same with COBs. Boards fall between cobs and strips.

You can buy premade from timber growlights or you can buy kits from cutter or COBkits or from rapid LED.
Or you can source all the parts individually from digikey or other places.
Just simple assembly needed.
