Rant about obtaining seeds

I hate buying seeds.

6 weeks ago I bought from seedsman. After 5 weeks of no package, they sent a replacement. 4 more weeks to wait for those seeds.
While waiting for my seedsman seeds, I ordered from North Atlantic Seed Company. The seeds were supposed to arrive today, but now they just say “arriving late” and my seeds are somewhere between my house in Michigan and Maine.
This is no disrespect to seedsman or NASC. I’ve ordered many times from seedsman and this is the first time I haven’t received an order from them. This is the first time I ordered from NASC, but they seem like a good domestic company to do business with. The weather has been shitty everywhere, I know. I just really needed/wanted my seeds to arrive today and am disappointed. I just needed to vent about that.

I'm sorry to hear that! I've learned a lot about patience during my 1st grow. Still sucks though haha. Seedsman was super fast for me, but that was prior to the storms coming through. Fingers crossed you get them soon!

You'll get your Seedsman seeds eventually. One thing that happens with Euro seed orders is you can get super unlucky with customs offices...if you get Chicago ISC, it might take months before you get them. Some offices only take a couple of days.

It was Chicago, and they are still sitting there. I lost an order from Herbies once, but that’s the only other one I’ve had issues with. Seedsman was easy to work with and they shipped out a new package as soon as the 1st one went 25 business days....I’m 12 days til harvest and have no auto seeds to start as replacements.

I've order many times from NASC they are good. They just replaced some seeds for me that didn't germinating. I had them in 2 days but I'm only 2 states down.

NASC is great I got my beans in like 3 days I think when I ordered a few weeks ago. But yeah USPS really seems to be suffering right now, I also ordered from JBC around the same time and just got my order yesterday.

edit: just did a little googling and there seems to be nationwide mail delays and the postmaster general testified before Congress yesterday lol

The seed game is a game of risk management. Instead of one big order from Seedsman (high risk), have three small orders from domestic banks (diversification). You will have a 90%+ chance of receiving seeds within 11 days.

There are subreddits where people trade seeds and clones, I don't know the one for Americans but /r/nugswap for Canada and the people there are very generous and it's a good way to build up your collection (or just get some seeds faster without waiting).

Thanks bro! I’ll check that out. I always have some spare photo seeds. :peace:

Since I still haven’t received either of my orders, I placed an order with DCSeedExchange today for a pack of Auto Blue Hindu from Mosca Seeds. Hopefully they arrive in the next nine days as that’s harvest day for 2 plants and planting day for 2 seeds (if I have any to plant.) Thanks for the recommendations!
There have been USPS delays for many seed shipments, hopefully your other seeds will show soon. I waited over two weeks extra for a trusted source to get seeds across the country recently. Wasn't the seed suppliers fault, they sent them out within a couple days of getting my order, tracking number showed it just got stuck somewhere.

While some seed suppliers are quicker than others to ship, none can do much to help beyond shipping promptly and providing a tracking number once they've shipped.

I just got a response from USPS yesterday on a shipment I have been waiting on since the 16th of Feb. It was supposed to be here on the 20th but the tracking shows that it is still in transit. They told me that it is on hold in Oakland but that it is still on its way. They are just having some serious delays right now.

I will say, if you are looking for a good US based company for seeds check out Great Lake Genetics. They are amazing - I got my shipment from them on the 20th, 3 days after they received my payment. I got at least 5 freebie packs and a bunch of stickers and other gear.

Damn dude that sucks! If you're in the states go with great lakes genetics! Never had any issues with them and they have amazing gear! They also have a presence on this forum that you can go and see many many satisfied customers!
