Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron have agreed to try to secure a ceasefire in the Donbas, in eastern Ukraine, and to put together an urgent summit at the highest level on the future of Ukraine, the Élysée Palace said in a statement.

The two leaders spoke on the phone for 105 minutes, and the outcome, broadly confirmed by the Kremlin, suggests Russia might be willing to step back from the brink of a full invasion of Ukraine to allow renewed diplomatic discussions.

Vive la France, vive la liberté, vive Macron, le nouveau leader du monde libre! He actually does have to win elections fairly, as desperate to be on the worlds stage as Putin but needs it maybe even more. Looks like Putin is stallin’ (baa dum tsss) there‘s no way he has any respect for Macron... though Macron is almost 2” taller, it just isn’t possible to take Macron seriously.

Reminds me of this article after their recent meeting:

Macron came to Ukraine ... as Chamberlain came to London, saying, ‘I brought you peace.’ He didn’t consult with us,” Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Vadym Prystaiko [said, …] “He went to Putin, straight, agreed with him something, and he returned back to Ukraine telling those guys, ‘I brought you peace. Take it.’ It’s not even ‘Take it or leave it.’ [It’s] ‘Take it. Don’t thank me. Take it.’”

Extra funny if you read Macron’s lines with a Russian-French accent.
of course he wants to negotiate with macron...just like he was amenable to "negotiating" with trump...because it's not negotiating when your opponent wants to have your children...
actually i don't know if macron has a man crush on pootie or not...but he is a leader in the tradition of another french hero

Macron's move could be the wedge in NATO that Putin was seeking. Nothing from Biden about a summit. Not at this moment.

A French source, see below. I don't know which French outlets are trustworthy but the article seemed neutral. Has very good rating at Media Bias Fact check

at this time, seems as if the only one talking about a summit with Putin is Macron.

I did mention before he’s a tad delusional

Assuming Macron didn’t just dream it up, if Putin’s playing chess Macron’s moves would certainly be very easy to predict.

This is from 2020 when Macron liberated Lebanon…

Like he single-handedly tore down the Beirut wall. Not at all what happened but he sure acted like it. Point is he likes publicity. He also wanted to be the mediator in the Syrian and the Gulf crisis in 2017. None of that worked out very well.

“France must become a great power again. That’s a necessity.” - Macron

Not like he has ambitions to expand france physically but the comparison with Napoleon isn’t new or uncommon in France. More like a cheap knock off copy of a wannabe version. Everything he says seems acted or is just populism, not real convictions. Anyway, he craves influence.

Elections in just a couple of months. If not him, one of his main competitors is a nazi cunt sponsored by - skip the drumroll it’s too obvious anyway - Russia. Like most, if not all, far-right parties in europe.

I’m sure he’s anything but a fan of Putin or Trump, but how serious can anyone take a ceasefire discussed by Macron and the guy who supports his opponent. It’s just laughable.

Can you imagine being in Zelensky’s shoes right now? A comedian actor who accidentally became president in a tv show becomes actual president, tries to act like it, wakes up convincing himself he’s not just a tv president, he can be the real thing, he can unite the ukranians and end the wars/skirmishes in the east… and then gets these calls and visits from “world leaders”.

It seems that a Putin-Biden/NATO summit might happen, conditional to Putin not invading Ukraine.

I don't know about you but I'm really uncomfortable with sending so much aid, especially armaments, to a country that is called a keptopocratic democracy. I don't mind if we send a lot of "advisors" with it. The US really fucked up in Afghanistan when we sent all those arms and didn't try to put auditing requirements in place to ensure they were in the hands of the Afghan army. A lot of the arms ended up with the Taliban. The rest went to Africa and other hot spots.

But,, yeah, I've been in the middle of a crisis at work and we called the people sent in from the corporate office, seagulls. The fly around eat your food and shit on your head.

One of the excuses/arguments Russia had in 2014 when they attacked Crimea was those Ukrainians they fought against were basically nazis anyway. Just last month Russia said the same thing again, Washington is helping nazis in the Ukraine. What makes that piece of propaganda so effective (for russians in ukraine and russia anyway) is that there’s some truth in it.

Summary: pro-ukraine militias fight pro-russia separatists. The former consist partly of neo-nazis. Not closet nazis, proper neonazis, symbols and all. In addition to fighting against pro-russia separatists they attack antifa and lgbtq demonstrations. You know the type. ‘very fine people’. Nope, not comfortable at all.

Germany sent 2billion usd, which Ukraine said is cool and all but what we really need is more weapons. So NL stepped up, lol, sent a 100 sniper rifles and helmets. Want to defend against Putin, here, take this helmet, *pat* *pat*, and this sniper riffle and walk your ass to Moscow. Aim for the head. As if it would make a difference to the outcome of this hypothetical war. I still don’t think they’ll actually be used against russian invaders and they’ll definitely won’t send them back.

It seems that a Putin-Biden/NATO summit might happen, conditional to Putin not invading Ukraine.

I heard people talking about Bidens peoples got lots of dirt on them hidden in ukraine is this true
I hear all sorts of things from unnamed people say types. Some of them say Trump is a yuuuge money launderer for Putin and his gang of oligarchs.

People say they stole more than a trillion dollars from the Russian people.

Is this true?

Let's face it, the issue with Ukraine/Russia has economic roots, so squeeze Putin by his economic balls and cut off his trade with NATO countries. When the recession hits the Russian economy, Putin will get "Reasonable."
Right?

So many problems today are associated with a very deep pool of dark and dirty money coming from Putin's Russia and satellite nations. There is enough justification right now for personal sanctions against Putin and his gang. Throw the circuit breaker on his flow of dirty money into the US and cut the power. Its my guess that banks and big real estate companies would take a hit, so it's complicated. Lobbyists will form a line up the steps of the Capitol building. They've had 20 years, at least, of feeding at that trough. It hurts everybody, Russians, Africans, Americans (I mean that in the general sense), everybody is affected by this.

It's a different group but Chinese dirty money needs to be shut down too.

The clean money too else it‘s like mopping with the tap running. Gas Russia wouldn’t be able to sell to europe they can redirect through new lines to China, who will be a great fossile fuel customer for decades to come. China also acts like a loan shark while Russia has a relatively very low national debt.

The EU and US each pump ~400billion per year in China by buying goods. That combined is the same as the US military budget. We should drastically find ways to send much of that money to each other instead of enriching and empowering China.

I thought France wasn’t in NATO. I learned something.
