it is an independent nation with it's own government...that is what sovereign means...
A sovereign nation is a nation that has one centralized government that has the power to govern a specific geographic area. Under the definition set by international law, a sovereign nation has a defined territory with just one government.
just because russia claims they should have some right to a country that was formed when they completely and totally fucked up and lost their super power status, doesn't make it so...russia has no more right to Ukraine than it does to claim ownership of the moon...which they never succeeded in getting to.
