Sorry for your loss. It is true the country is changing. Apparently folks can no longer chase down black folk with trucks and shoot them with shotguns.* Even in the deep south, the majority of folks don't like lynchings.
As old folks with pigmentation based prejudice die off, they are replaced with young people who are not steeped in hate. So the country is actually getting better but there are so many cops and prosecutors doing stupid shit, it looks worse than it is.
* That is assuming there is a video. The old south power structure is still in place and will work as long as folks don't hear about the lynchings.
