Think about how much one would weigh if they weren't...Are drive shafts normally hollow?
boat prop shafts are typically solid, so I assumed drive shafts were also.Think about how much one would weigh if they weren't...
They aren't as large in diameter are they?boat prop shafts are typically solid, so I assumed drive shafts were also.
That's ridiculous.......where's his safety glasses
Depends on the size of the boat. Mine has a 2" shaft. An aircraft carrier is a bit bigger...They aren't as large in diameter are they?
That's the diameter. It's probably 10-12 feet long.
Car and truck ones are. Most racers with slick tires will upgrade the U joints and driveshafts to a beefier stronger aluminum unit. My Mustang twisted one the second time out at the dragstrip with slicks on. The first time it sheared off the lug nut bolts clean at launch and I got to watch my back tire roll by me as the car sat cockeyed on the finish line. Carbon fiber is also a good choice but expensive. Are drive shafts normally hollow?
