Just like he sorta bought everybody in some Florida restaurant a meal and bailed without paying …

"I never said I was paying for it. I never said that. 'Kay? I meant everyone should have food. Everyone should have food. But I never said the food was free. I never said that. Fake news. Fake news. No, it's fake news."

He is also the only one to lose money on a casino, bankrupting it, and they just walk in the door and give you money for nothing in that business! They also gave money for nothing to his various pacs and he managed to break those too while bankrupting his social media business, ending up on the hook of $300 million because of his failure. He needs the money because NY is gonna take for $250 million minimum and probably a lot more. Deadbeat Don is gonna be in the hole even further, the money is slowly drying up as the suckers are tapped out or get wise.

He needs to be president again but bankrupted himself politically by being constitutionally disqualified, that should end the nightmare for America, but it will just be beginning of the nightmare for him.

It's the same for TV which was a disappointment to many, the lowest common denominator won and then the market fragmented with the rise of technology and finally only appeals to a segment of the population. Radio went through its evolution too.
TV 50 years ago was, except for a few standouts, uniformly garbage.

Authoritative assessment from watching TV since TVs first hit the street
21st-century is a golden age for entertainment, mostly (always Sturgeon’s Law)

Public/service/news/opinion OTOH…has been deliberately fouled, to make room for “plausible deniability in ‘journalism’”…and Sturgeon’s Law, again. Started in AM radio & satellite cable, but look at it now - it’s eaten so much bandwidth…& w/ the newly defined principle that it’s perfectly okay to lie about (apparently) *anything*, the shit-tonnage has trebled. Saw a report today said that Ex is eaten up w/ fascist-adjacent sewage worse now than ever. Don’t know about that, but it’s a witless & confused bunch (they’ve been trained to Gish-gallop themselves so thoroughly that they can’t remember how many talking points have already been chopped to bits); naturally, it affects the quality of the conversation

Once you start looking, it becomes impossible to pretend these gerrymanders represent actual cohesive communities - in fact they frequently fragment genuine communities & leave them electorally powerless by making each slice a de-facto minority to an artificially enhanced majority.

the whole point of gerrymandering is to maximize ‘friendly’ & minimize/eliminate ‘opposing’districts. The Jim Crow south leaving nothing to chance, they bolted their ideal to bedrock - and when the Dixiecrats & other racists fled to the GOP in ‘68 & ‘80, it came back to bite them in GA: republicans were locked out by their own previously democrat hands, and the democrats left behind weren’t arsed to change it. In recent decades, much of that has reversed, due to the Reagan coat-tails, the reign of Czar Mitch, & the Rise of the Trumpster Fire

I liked Sea Hunt as much as *anyone*, & I refused to miss an episode of ST:TOS…when it was new. And who doesn’t love Marlon Perkins (who, I think had stopped in the ‘60s)? MASH was indeed great, tho working nights pretty much meant I had to ‘catch up’ during re-runs (pre-‘net, pre-VCR); I’m resigned to disappointment on this issue.

…but, $6,000,000 Man? Really? I’d rank OG Battlestar Galactica higher…then again, by that time, pre-cable, I lived very happily without a TV

I included Steve Austin Astronaut with tongue in cheek. Galactica, Knight Rider and A-Team were flat-out dreadful. Chips (perfectly lampooned in one of the Disney “Planes” movies) and Dukes of Hazzard rounded out the awful.

But there was a weekly crime series, sort of an anthology of several shows (was that where Columbo got its start?) that featured a flashlight and pseudowhistling in its opening credits.

(edit) the Sunday Night Mystery Movie on NBC

Minor quibble: the first one was Cousteau.

I can attest to that. I just logged in there for the first time in a year tho rarely did before that. Everything in their political section is all maga and bots with tons of likes. The rare dem post is laughed at by many with only a few likes.

I'll log in next year this time and let you know if it's improved. :)

Cousteau, thanks, i suspected I was wrong, but Sea Hunt was all that came to mind

Glen A Larson is the guy who inflicted Battlestar Ponderosa, Buck Rogers, 6M$M & all manner of very-seventies awfulness & stupidity on the viewing public - in contrast to the BSG redo which was as sublime as the OG was ridiculous

My mother was the one who watched those mystery-of-the-week things:
we weren’t allowed out of our bedrooms that late, so we were primed to not care when she talked about them

I admit I’ve gotten into the Ex-habit…I’m on there daily now. Just a few months ago I’d never been there at all. I’m certainly not tracking a narrow beam, so I’m pretty pleased w/ the volume & quality of rational, reality-based, fact-based material *with sourcing*. The bots & redhats swarm like piranha, but they can’t be everywhere at once, so I only run into them frequently, not all the time. I get it if they’re paid to do it, but seems they’re mostly people who’ve turned off their inner voices & turned on “what everyone is thinking”

Have you looked at Tribel yet? I got an account there but have only been on a couple times. Just like X and I don't like the format of either so don't want to waste a lot of time screwing with those. Getting back into fly tying and rod building so hang out at a few places like that these days. Plus learning how to fly my drone half-assed decently. Some u-tube involved in all of that too. :)

Lots of good posts here and in the other political forums to keep me well informed and not hunting all over for the news.
