Thank you, open heart surgery was just the beginning, I also got diagnosed with autoimmune disease RA I was I able to even hold a fork to eat I was on crutches for an entire year 12 long months of agony kind of and on September 5th of this year I had right total knee replacement so now they've got me on biologics for the rheumatoid arthritis and that's working My knee is now healed and I'm walking again and my heart still beating it's quite the miracle that I'm back to the point I am and it feels really good to be growing again
You are an inspiration! Growing is also great physical and mental threapy. When you hear heart surgery, you know there's also a laundry list of other issues. But the open heart surgery is the Trump card. Only a royal flush or brain surgery can beat that shit hand we were dealt.

My daughter bought me a big red bullshit button to press when the occasion arises. My wife asked me why I don't keep it down in my garden. I replied with no hesitation, because my dear there is no bullshit down here.

Growing is good for the soul

When one system weakens it seems to pull the other systems out of homeostasis and that's when the trouble really begins. It's a hard road to healing sometimes. I am glad you are on the other side! Welcome back.

I believe you are right, my body is really working well better than I have felt in ten years, my rheumatologist is going to try and ween me off the biologic infusions in a few months and see how I react

I've been running 5 gallon SIP's with coke cans as my reservoir. Pro-mix with GH maxibloom and grow for nutrients. The tendrils of dirt between the cans are my wick.
They do great until late in flower when they start to struggle, turning yellow getting crispy. I feel like I'm getting salt buildup but I just not sure how to flush them, it's kind of an enclosed system.
This time around I'm running 4 gallon pots with time release potting soil. [Miracle grow moisture control.] Coke can reservoir etc.
My theory is the soil should have enough nutrients to carry them through especially if I keep the veg time short. If not maybe just a little maxibloom at the end.
So far so good. Plants are exploding with growth as usual. One thing different though I have only had to water once in 3 weeks. I filled up the reservoir when I first transplanted them. I watered them for the first time since then today-3 weeks later. Evidently the moisture control is doing just that.
Anybody out there doing something similar? Speed bumps ahead?
Here's a picture, plant is 22 days from sprout.

Charging your soil and cooking it for a few weeks beforehand is a good way to cut down on the salts. If you run a bigger sip, you won't have to add anything at all. I keep a bag of maxibloom handy, but I haven't had to use it quite yet. My sips are 17gal totes, they hold 11 gal of soil. I'm a bit heavy handed on the amendments. I just dial the mix back each run with that strain until there is only minor tip burn. It may be backwards, but so is the world we live in

Here's the tip burn I was talking about. These are two separate sips. Just dialed this strain in on this run. One on the left has about 2/3 cup more amendments, and is showing considerable burn. One on the right I dialed back a bit and we only have tip burn. Trick is to mix just enough so you don't fry them, but also enough to see them through. I veg for 1 week from clone in a solo cup. Veg for 2 weeks in a 1/2gal. Then 3 weeks in the sip to fill out the lower net. 10 weeks in flower. I don't add anything, except some pee if I can't cork it.

Their carbon based line in reservoir? Think it being FPE (fermented plant extract) base nutrient, possible root issues due to bad bacteria after sitting for a 3-5 days in reservoir?

This is peak nute problem.
I initially thought it was just a mag deficiency so I top fed a light mix, but that did nothing. As the problem worsened I tested the soil, boiled my water, and gave a small doae of ceaft blend. I thought I was gonna lose these plants.

As it turns out, big plants need a lot of nutes. Whoda thunk it? ...
I got some EWC from some cool neighbors. Ordered some build-a-flower and em-1 online. Then made a concentrated compost tea that I poured over a hefty top up of craft blend. They perked right up. Glad I doubled down and fed what I thought was an excessive amount. I almost chopped them down

Any tips on keeping humidity down in a tent while using SIPS? My RH goes way too high at night. I have 2 dehumidifiers and a bunch of damprids in the room my tent is in. RH goes over 80%

Advice please?

The room your tent is in needs to be vented, the water needs to go somewhere in the end. If not vented or evacuated somehow, then the water will just stay in the room and go back in the tent. The other thing you can do in order to drop rh is to increase the temps in the tent a bit at night.

This is good advice. Another tactic, not ideal, is turning the light down. Also, defoliation. A combination of venting outside, higher temps, less light, and/or defoliation may be in order.

Though it doesn't help with this grow, smaller plants make it easier to keep the RH down.

edit: I missed the detail about this being a problem more at lights-off. @Rocket Soul clarified below.

If this humidity swing is only at night then lowering the light intensity during the day will have minimal effects but if theres still too much rh during lights on its a solid advice.
