Ok so this is my first grow, i'm using a 400w MH 18/6, using botanicare veg mix, and I was using root stimi's. This is a closet grow so my main issues are good air circulation and tempature. They're mostly around 77-82* with 30-45% humidity, low is 63* at night. It uses 2 fans and a humidifier. Humidifier blows onto bulb via paper ducting. Just added panda plastic today!

4 are bag seeds (regs), 3 are amsterdam something, and the two together are blueberry something. (i don't know names, was givin plants, light & chemicals when a friend got busted)

I know i should have transplanted the two whose roots are now probably fused together awhile ago, will be doing that soon! Hopefully they won't be in too much shock!

ALL constructive critisism welcome! :weed:

Q's:
-Should i use root stimi's again after transplant?
-If in veg state till about a foot, how large will they get in a 3 or 5 gallon container? dunno which to get..
-I was gifted some botanicare flowering formula, but it says for hydrogardens, i take it i can't use it? no directions for soil grows.. ???
-Is there a set distance from the light to the plants that i should be following?
-Advice on testing pH.. test the soil or water, both? Reccomended products?
-When will i be able to acess the sale section of this forum, i want a 600w HPS for flowering..?

sorry for all the q's, noobs will be noobs :wall:

dunno how to make these thumbs..

Q's& A's:
-Should i use root stimi's again after transplant?--- You dont have to soak them, but I would do a B-1 cycle on and of fer 3 wks after transplant!
-If in veg state till about a foot, how large will they get in a 3 or 5 gallon container? dunno which to get..---You are fine in the 3 for veg fer sure! If thats all yer veggin, then goin to flower, try a 7 gal min. fer ya flower!
-I was gifted some botanicare flowering formula, but it says for hydrogardens, i take it i can't use it? no directions for soil grows.. ???---Which botanicare product is it? I use their line, so let me know, you should be ok, just gotta figure yer doses
-Is there a set distance from the light to the plants that i should be following?---From yer pics, you look good.
-Advice on testing pH.. test the soil or water, both? Reccomended products?---Wat kinda soil? Wat is yer water supply? I used organic, pro growers soil, nothin in it, so my nutes are all it needs! My water is bottled, so I dont worry about pH
-When will i be able to acess the sale section of this forum, i want a 600w HPS for flowering..?---Cant help ya there, hit up e-bay or craigslist

Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Bloom, Fruit and Flowering Formula for hydrogardens 2.5-2-5

About transplanting, so i could veg them in 3 gals, flower em, and when i find and kill males transplant again and flower the rest in 7 gals.. to much transplanting? already some have been transplanted..

space might be an issue. what is it like 7X7 for the 400w..

You are going to transplant WHEN you put them into flower! Too much stress while in flower will fuck you, hardcore!
On the nutes, mine all say at the bottom on the front, "for hydrogardens, soil, and coco" I suggest thats wat you use. And, did you say that you are using bloom? Thats only for flower! You want pro gro for veg! Transplant now, like I said, and get the proper flower nutes. When you trans, only use water and B-1 right now. Then next water, use water n nutes, next water n B-1, then water n nutes. tell me when you get to that point, will help you along the way, tho!

you dont want clear cups. the light shouldnt hit the roots like that. and id say you might be overwaterring a tad. are you lettin them get dry between waterings? and is there any drainage in those cups?

This is my main point too... you might be suffocating the roots right now and drowning them... although the pics above look like they were taken days apart and the bottom seems to be doing the best you still need more air in and more h20 out. Also in the pics above it loos like one or 2 of those cups are only half filled so they are probably ready for a transplant.

no drainage in the cups, i do let them get dry before watering

i am using the botanicare veg formula, just have a useless hydro flowering nutrient

yes the last two pics are days apart, just showing the panda plastic

transplanting is where i'm confused as to what to do, 3 gal, 5 gal... i'm worried about space and light..

anyone else have a closet setup, how do you circulate air?

you do want to get rid of the clear cups and add some holes for the water to drain. but the cups are a good idea..u get a really good root system going in those get a massive root ball so its keeps all the soil together...then cut the bottoms of the cups out and when your ready to transplant just smash the side in a just a little bit push from the bottom up and take all the root ball and put right into the next..this way is the best for tranplanting and pretty much 100% effective..i finally just learned this from the last million transplants..i learned the hard way...dunno if you have ever brought flowers from the store in those little square containers..well thats what it should look like when you pull it out all the roots wrapped around to keep it together

scottsblown...that really depends on how big you want em and when you are gonna flower em.... you could get by with 3 gal but vegging for over 8 weeks ur gonna need 5 gal prob.

look into a product called fertilome bloom and root enhancer. HIGHLY reccommended for transplants and promoting flowering.

i have a closet setup, but there is an access to the attic in it, so i have an exhaust fan blowin out into the attic, and a fan circulating air inside, seems to work for me.

ok i think i'll go with the 5 gals, just worried about space and light, 9 five gals under a 400w seems like it would be a streatch..

wish i had something like that, it sucks cause the closet is big and in a good place, but no way to move air without the doors being at least somewhat open. I could do a small op of clones, vegatative and flowering in this closet.. but no air :(. I'm renting this house with a few buddies from one of their mom's, dunno about 'construction'... maybe i'll move em outside in the spring, or look to the attic..

while i'm here, what other ESSIENTIAL nutes should i get? I've just got the botanicare veg and root stimi's, think i'm gonna go with botanicare flowering, i've head stuff about b-1, cal mag, sugar daddy?? time to go shopping for the girls; soil containers, soil, and nutes..

edit: the sale section that's locked to newer members

If you have a good airflow intake/exhaust set up, you should get a good bit of fresh air coming in through the bottom of the closet door and the cracks etc.. Not sure about the heat, but fresh air will come in through the smallest of cracks if your fans are good.

They claim 6x6 for 400w. and i couldn't see why you would need anything bigger than 5 gals or mybe 3 gals for a closet or small room grow.

yeah i'm gonna go with nine 5gals i figure i'll loose 5 to males, but i should have enough room till then

is there anything i can use the males for, grind em up and add to soil maybe?

if i were to use the MH light all through the grow how would it affect the flowering process?

wont get as much yeild from a MH vs HPS...since its different spectrum an all. You can use males for pollenation, cooking butters, brownies, etc you can also even smoke the leaves but they are like 60% less potent than a female. Most ppl chuck em.

Yes, 5 gal pots! I have 2 regular fans in a closet-type grow! One circulates the air in the room (set @ canopy level-only a 10" fan, btw), and the other is set so that it blows above the canopy. This works fer me, many disagree w/the way that I do it, and their reasons are valid fer most grow rooms. As you can see, mine isnt most. . .

Hey, about container size. When everyone says a 5 gallon pot, is this a 5 gallon BUCKET, or a 5 gallon nursery container? That's quite a big difference! If I veg clones for 3 or 4 weeks AFTER rooting, can I use a 3 gallon container to veg to around 12 - 18", then transplant to 5 gallon NURSERY container for flower?
