Also you can use fish and grow just use half and half, but it says that on their feed schedule. That chart is handy.

I got the alaska fish emulsion from home depot omri cert for fun, wow it does smell like i got some loving. Lol.

I will take pics today, my fem wws are sprouted and so are my widow cindy and afghan mazar. All organic!

Anyways just a question my next grow I want to mix my own soil.... I read somewhere that 50% wormcasting 25% pro mix and 25% perlite was a good mix. Also want to add some blood meal. What do you guys think and how much blood meal do you think I should add?

I would check in with the Group later tonight (It's just after 7:00pm here now) if I were you. The second part of the SLGG will be posted and will include bone meal, blood meal, earthworm castings, and kelp oil(s). I will be showing the values of each of these just as the first installment with perlite, vermiculite, peat moss, and humus. This will include a mix that you can use as a template per say. As far as the recipe you included, I wouldn't argue with that, but personally I'd supplement more perlite for the castings maybe 35% perlite, 15% castings. Just me though, I like nice airy soil. RMM ... Worm castings are very dense / heavy for their size, you should never use more than 20 percent (max) 10 to 15 percent is best. Also, never use more than 20 percent perlite in soil, or it will float upwards in your soil mix.

A good mix holds some water / nutes - but also drains well. A time honored recipe is 50 percent compost (either from your compost barrel or bagged stuff from Home Depot), 25 percent spaghum peat moss (Home Depot or Walmart) or coco fiber (most good garden centers or online hydro stores), 10 percent perlite (Walmart or Home Depot), 15 percent worm castings (garden centers, online hydro stores or Ebay).

This mix will provide Mary with a gentle starting mix, with just enought nutes to get her going (not enought to burn), and stretch out her roots easily (because it's lighter & fluffer than straight dirt or garden soil).

Hi, this seems interesting to me since I am growing in Bcuzz Soiless mix "black and green bag" but I am using a mixture of Flora Nova Grow and Bloom, Cool Bloom, and Sweet. I am using a drain to waste feed program, are my products considered organic? I was considering switching over to Cutting Edge Solutions, anyone heard about the results from these guys? Thanks in advance.

Just me maybe, but I only consider organics to be things that mother nature will give you, no company formulas, your own mix of nature. Are your nutrients certified by OMRI? If it is, then you're as organic as bottled nutrients come, they're the authority

Now what I see with the synthetic supplements are higher P-K levels now if you were to visit 3lb guide to earth juices you would see that by giving the plant more dosages will increase the yield
Now what I’ve come up with is in order to compete with fox farm open sesame N-P-K
Levels of 5-45-19 would be to add these organic nutrients as follows
Two dosage of EARTH JUICE META-K from 0-0-10 to 0-0-20 inside of its own 1 gallon container
Humboldt organic bloom N-P-K 0-10-0 four dosages which brings it to 0-40-0 and it need its own 1 gallon container of water as well

Earth juice grow needs only one dosage
Now add all of your gallons of nuts and water into one container and water
this has not been tried as of yet but what do you think about what I have come up with dose it make since to you

If you wanted to out do beastie blooms N-P-K 0-50-30
Bloom N-P-K 0-10-0 the dosage count would be 5
Meta-k N-P-K 0-0-10 the dosage count would be 3
Mix it into two gallons of water


My ideal set of nutrents would be a combination of

Earth juice
Grow N-P-K 2-1-1
Meta-k N-P-K 0-0-10
Humboldt
Bloom N-P-K 0-10-0

(by the way I am so subscribed to this thread) Now, I am going to ask the ultimate noob question.. when do I start the nutes? We originally started grow in the 2nd week and then flushed at the 4th week before starting the bloom at 5 weeks and then flushed again at the end. (thi s was all non organic) How will I then work this combo of organic feedings into my regimen? Would it be basically the same?

Welcome to the thread and hopefully the Group Nunyobiness. Nutrients can be started as early as 2-3 weeks into the grow. Depending on what you're using for nutrients, early nutrients can be supplemented. The dreaded chemical fertilizers, and even some "organic" fertilizers unfortunately, have compounds that leach the soil and do not give any reinforcement to the soil.

The main benefit to organic growing, true organic growing, is everything in the soil is sustainable, there are micro organisms present that nourish the soil as well as the plant roots. This is important because as chemical nutrients are added the beneficial organisms in the soil are killed, diminishing the soils ability to retain water and nutrients; in turn leading to more feeding being necessary.

The best nutrients to use are composts usually as you can add nutrients over the months your compost is sitting and being mixed. A compost with a 25-30:1 C/N ratio works amazingly well and is nourishing to your entire grow (C/N being Carbon/Nitrogen).
