If you want the best smelling and looking bud around. then you are reading the right thread. The way I dry and cure is the way most people do dro. I harvest and hang dry for a day, then I cut the buds off at the stem and i donot flatten my buds at all then i put them in a sealed jar (pickle jars give bad odors and funky taste if you dont let them air out) and 4 times a day for 5 minets i open the jars (try some untill you think its done curing all weeds diffrent) it takes about 10 days. And oh yeah allways store in the freezer in the book ask ed it covers the specifics but freezing helps turn every thing inside the plant to its full potential. also when you have big quantities the thc degrades slower in the freezer. (in the book it said that after 6 months in the freezer the weed smoked relatively the same.)happy growing

Ive heard to hang dry until the stem snaps, but you said you HANG DRY FOR ONE DAY. Was that part correct?
Im trying to gain as much knowledge as I can as Im in week 5 of flowering in my very first grow so I must ask.

No, you need to hang dry for more than 1 day!

1 day would do nothing.

I hang dry for about 10- 14 days in a room with 50% relative humidity and then cure in mason jars, burping them for another 2 weeks. The whole process should take up to and sometimes more than 1 whole month.

my tcnique has worked fine and i live where the humididy is low at 70% so mabey that helps them dry faster but drying them for a day and curing in the frzr from 10 days to a month keeps them moist to the touch but it still burns

That is a recipe for mold......or worse.
The slower the dry the smoother the smoke....hang dry in 30-50% humidity for 5 to 10 days depending on cola size and humidity level.....then jar them up for a month or two with regular burping in the beginning.

baisically and dry heat feels soooo much better(cooler) than humid. 95 dry feels 80 to me but 95 humid Phhhew ill have a heat stroke jus lookin out side

Your humidity level while drying as well as the length of time you dry. Get a dehumidifier, they are cheap and will make life growing and drying cannabis easier.
Do a search on Aspergillus found in cannabis, the drying/curing stage is the last place to take shortcuts....1 day drying is not enough time for even the fluffiest nugs especially at your humidity levels.

Vacuum containers are fine for final storage but I would use something that can be opened several times a day for the first few weeks. The process of burping allows fresh air in which over time helps draw the moisture from the center of the buds and evenly distributes it.
Short answer....yes they still need to be burped.

70% humidity is not low and a little high to dry IMO. I live ~6 miles from the ocean and humidity, not that it is high here, averages ~50%.

The amount of time hang drying would depend on many factors, but 1 day is pretty short. IMO a slower dry is better, because of this, I use the intermediate step of the paper sack.

I cut a headband that will finish ~40g's dry on Sat. (whole plant cut and hung upside down in dark) Tues. I cut branches off and into pieces small enough to fit in paper sack. Checked today and rotated some of the outside to the inside of the pile in the sack, really close to dry. Humidity was/is 54%-49% today with Santa Ana winds. Temps got a little high one day at 77f but generally 68-70f.

I expect tomorrow I will manicure and put in jars with the buds feeling too dry, but in 24 hours will need to burp. The headband is pretty good after 2 weeks and nice after 4 weeks in the jar. My K-train for some reason is really good after only a week or two.

Thats cool that works for you but i have to say it generally isnt the best way. Buds normally needs to be hung for atleast 3-5 days, then into a paper bag for a couple days or into jars. You want to dry with around 50% humidity, if you put your buds in jars before they are dry then you are asking for mold. But if this works for you then great! The buds need to be in the jars for atleast 2 weeks AFTER drying for a decent cure.

I only hang for a day (6am till 6am literally 24 hrs) to keep the buds moist to the touch no crunchy dry feeling. i compared this to more standard drying and varied the days from 1 day till 17 days (i dried 6g for a day then cure 6g for 2 days an so on all the buds were from the same plant and when it was done i compared and i like the moist feeling and the 1 day dry got me as high as the 10 dry but anything longer than that and the weed wasnt as good. also i am forced to dry outside (liv w/mom only 18 for 2 months) i dry in an old brick building no one nos about but me (found by chance and too a yr to find again) so i cant do anything about humidity unless if i stole elec. and im not going to jail again any time soon
