Check the local hardware stores, like mom and pop stores that offer garden supplies and seeds in bulk. This time of year, they should have it.
Lowes offers 2 gallon buckets in the paint department, or even the orange homer buckets from home depot.
if you do a SOG grow, you could get by in plastic cups, or even gatorade bottles. Think outside the box when it comes to Hempy and what pots to use. I use the large and super size cups from fast food joints too. punch a hole, fill w/ perlite, and there ya go!!LOL!!
Remember the size of the pot you use is based off the size of the plant you want to grow. If you want a big tree, use a 5 gallon. Anything under probably 2-3 feet wont need anywhere near a 5 gallon pot.

Yeah, I'm in the US. Yeah I was hoping to find more like a 20 gallon bulk bag of perlite.... buying a bunch of the smaller bags from walmart or lowes would be a lot more expensive than need be. About the pots, I figure I might as well try to grow them a pretty decent size since they will be growing for so long.... I'm growing them outside and I'm guessing they won't really be finished until around September because of the season length here. All the plants right now are about 6 inches tall witha bout 5 sets of leaves and in small plastic and foam cups... i think the 16 oz size cups. That's in potting soil though... I gave them a little nutrients for the first time today to tide them over until I can get them in hempy buckets... How big do you think they will be if I use 2 gallon buckets? I'll probably end up tying them down either way...

lol, my last grow had a plant that was 4 foot until she came down, in a 2 gallon bucket. She died early though and never figured out if it was from root problems or not. never had to, that was in soil either way.

hey mafia thanks for help!. Wondering when is a good time to transfer them to hempy's?
they been in RW cubes for about 1 week now.

Wait for good roots though. You should see lots of roots filling the bottom of the cube. Usually 10-14 days is the right conditions. Hempys are slow to start so begin in a small container like a solo cup.

True, i forgot to mention that the RW or prop. plug, which ever you use, should look like it is about to bust with roots. Lots of pokey white tips shooting out of the plug is a good sign to transplant, do not wait until the root tips start to turn brown on the tip....you've waited too long if this happens.

good stuff...good to know right now i see 1-2 roots at the bottom at most so i will wait ill try post a pic to show how is looking. hey quick question how do rep on here sorry im a noob.

I was just curious I read somewhere that roots shouldent be exposed to light, right now I have my babies in in rw cubes laying in a tray full of perlite, with t5 fixture 2 inches above.Is this safe? I'm more worried because I'm starting see tiny tips of root poke out the cubes.

I went and picked up a bulk bag of perlite today... damn bag was like 3/4th the size of me lol and also some GH micro and bloom (lucas formula).... woohooo. now I just gotta get containers and move the plants to where they need to be... do you guys cover the top layer of perlite with anything to keep algae from growing on it? not sure if that'll happen to me or not, but it seems like it could

I have never had a problem with too much light for my clones. I run 1 two bulb, four foot flouro., it hangs almost directly on top of my dome, about 1/4 inch from the plastic top. Air is the biggest concern, do not leave the tray off for long so the roots don't dry out too much. If the tips start to turn thin and brown over, they need to get in something fast.And heres a pic from the clone dome to show ya i take no pre cautions for light hitting my roots, this plant pictured was transplanted the same day i took this(notice the tips of the roots). Never had any problems from it.....

The only downfall to the algae is that it makes the top layer look dirty...:evil:
The algae doesn't effect the plant growth, or PH of anything in a hempy cup. You can cover it if you like, but its not necessary.

that is very true mafia i notice my cubes dryout in 1 day need keep watering everyday i just put a fan in there too keep air circulating but i think that also plays major part in drying the rw cubes.
should i turn on my humidifyer my humidity is at 30% now?

your humidity should be as high as it can get in the dome. usually around 80-90% inside the dome you keep the clones in.
I dont have any fans over my clones, just inside the dome on the shelf under the flouro's. , if its cold i use the heat mat.
I would turn the humidifier on if the area in your entire room is that low in humidity. Humidity in vegg should be higher, i keep mine at 60-70% RH during vegg., then around 40-50 in flower, then 30% in the last two weeks.

Humidity is by far the most over-rated factor in cloning. Root temp and moisture along with a scored stem are the most important pieces of the puzzle. I use RW cubes with regular tap water, no gels or powders, scored the stem when cloning, place in tray on heatpad ... Bang...5 day roots. 100%. It really is easy if you let it be. Humidomes cause too much moisture and stem rot.
