Ok here goes.
I have never done this before.
I went down to LA and got two clones of Jack the ripper about a week and a half ago. 3/22/09. I put them in 2 separate pots under 2 23watt 1500 lumen CFLs. See first pics. that was the first day i planted them.
sunday I modified my grow box, witch is a cabinet for 100 bucks at home depot.

today day 10 I put 2 more lights in 23 watt 1650 lumen cfls.

They have grown a decent amount in the last ten days. I will keep posting about once a week with my modifications (if any) and the progress of my new little ladys.

If anyone has advise or just wants to comment. bring it on.

oh yeah one more thing.
I am studying to be a professional photographer so the pics on this thread should be pretty sweet. the pics will all be of my plants but hey, thats fun right.

total lights
2 23watt cfls 1650 lumens
2 23 watt cfls 1500 lumens

both are bright white but one seems a little warmer than the other one.

1 mini fan (k-mart) $10
miracle grow potting mix

I have also been using tap water for now. I know this is a no no.

The tips of the leaves in both of my plants are starting to turn a little brown. There are also a couple little brown spots on a couple of the leaves.

Any idea what this is?
and how to fix it.

I am adding one more warm tone cfl to the box today. putting it really close to the plants.

replies and comments are welcome and needed.

They are growing great! This last week they doubled in size :weed:
I will post some pictures later. I added one warm spectrum CFL and they shot up. I also have been on a 16/8 lighting schedule.
Watering about 2 or three times a week. little more than 1 cup.

Does anyone know how much more they will grow in the flowering stage?
I am not sure how long to veg them. If they get to big they wont fit in my box.

I think they are doing great except there are a few dry spots on a couple leaves (see pics) . I have not given them any nutrients just the potting soil from home depot. (witch i believe has some in it that should last a few months)

pic update for the week.

I am also including an image made so you can see the color temps of the lights in the box.
As they get taller I will ad more at the bottom.

any suggestions, questions

I am just gathering info and winging it at this point.

cheers,
Brown

Quick update. I switched to a 12/12 and started flowering. they are looking healthy. I can't wait to see how much bigger these ladies get in the next few weeks. I have heard Jack the rippers flowering period is about 8 to 9 weeks or so. I am starting to see little pistols all over them now also.
time to start thinking about making a filter for the funk.

later

I planted 4 bag seeds that I have collected over the last couple weeks because I wanted to try a grow from seed this time. I have some space at the bottom of the brow box that I set up as a Veg. area.

I have 3 6500 Kelvin daylight CFLs
over 4 cups

I just planted the seeds in the dirt. I didn't soak them at all.
I will post pics in the next couple days.

alright.
the box was getting way to freakin hot upstairs. over 90 degrees everyday so I moved it downstairs yesterday. today it only got up to 82 before the lights shut off.

they most likely are sagging from heat or underwatering. I am not sure though. I also don't check the ph levels of the water as of right now. That will be my next purchase. (trip to the aquarium store)

if anyone has any idea why this would happen please let me know?
pics of the sagging. it seems pretty severe

OH yeah also I got some nutrients today. I was going to add them but the sagging freaked me out so I didn't. I am assuming this kind will work fine.

some guys in the other forums were telling me that I most likley over watered.

I am going on a trip for a few days so I am going to let them sit without watering them for a few days.
see what happens

How are you watering your plants? How much and how often? Without having practical experience, my research agrees with over watering as the cause. It could be the 90 degree heat, too.

I've been watering my plants every 2 days and it seems to be working.

I would wait to add nutes until you're sure the plants' health aren't declining any further.

I was watering about 1 cup every 3 or four days.

Just posting an update on how things are running. They have been flowering for a little over five weeks. I have been giving them water and nutes almost everyday now and they are drinking it right up. Just about one cup a day.

They are 15 inches tall now and I am supposed to flower for 8 to 9 weeks with this particular strain.

The seed that sprouted is doing fantastic. here is a pic.
If anyone has any idea what strain the little lady is that would be cool to know.
It looks like indica to me but thats about as far as I can guess.

bump.
does anyone know how to tell what strain this looks like. I understand no one will know or sure but maybe it looks similar to something you have grown.
thanks
