In the beginning they sacrificed the most physically fit/intelligent elite then as time went on there weren't too many left and the ones running the show caused it to collapse! I think every problem in this world comes from overpopulation. Maybe guys like me and Ijustgrowgreen have a bad outlook on life but in 50 years we've tripled our pop and it just can't keep growing.

I'm that guy that doesn't understand why families produce more than 2 children on purpose. I understand adopting past that number, but I just don't understand why anyone would need to produce more than two?

Yes, I know about farmers needing them to help but it's not the wild west anymore. I don't hate these people I just don't have a clue why they do this? If I could change one thing here I would make everyone sterile and then if they passed some kind of tests and were ready to be parents then they can have up to two kids.

I think if we keep on breeding like cockroaches and depleting our resources we're in for a big surprise in 1000 years if this earth still exists. We'll be out of room just because of cemeteries.

I can think of lots of reasons why someone would want more than 2 kids. I don't necessarily AGREE with those reasons, but in a case like this my opinion doesn't matter much.

See, *I* have 2 kids but my fiancee doesn't have any. He loves my kids, but he wants one of his own at some point.

The majority of relationships these days just don't last forever, so you've got a lot more "mixed" families (with kids from previous marriages and current marriages) these days than there were when I was growing up (which wasn't that long ago, btw ).

Also, having kids isn't always the intended outcome. Sometimes it happens and you just kinda go with it.

If you've got the money and the patience, I don't really see the problem. It certainly isn't any of my business how many kids someone wants to have as long as they are willing and able to take care of them. As a woman and a mother, I don't need anyone nosing around in my wombular business, thanks but no thanks.

jesus fucking christ are you telling me that you even agree with the professor even remotely!? that even though, you dont target one specific race(which he didnt, he was just talking mainly about africas overpopulation), you actually think, because in the long run, it could be better, that we should intentionally massacre a massive amount of our population??? so who would die? would you? are these 5 billion people that are eliminated not people? do they have a voice at all? come on man thats fucking sick...I'll admit, over population is probably the biggest cause of nearly all our problems...but you can't fix it... it must play out, this isn't something you can fix by virtually commiting a xenocide of our human race, except for a select few supposed "elites"...fuck that...if the NWO starts making new vaccines, putting chips in our palms of hands, im going out fighting...and dont even compare the fucking mayans...they didnt sacrifice people so that their population would be smaller, they ripped hearts out and shed blood because they believe it made the sun come out everyday...it was sacrifices for their god...fuck.

Thanks for answering my question on why someone would want more than two. It's makes sense, you love children and want to be around them. I see nothing wrong with that.

I don't understand why don't people adopt more? Why do their children have to come from themselves? Like when people go to a breeder to get a dog when they can go rescue the same breed/age dog from a pound? My mind doesn't accept this. If I ever plan on having kids they will be adopted.

I think your outlook is pretty realistic, because things could get bad if we continue on the way we have been for the past 100 years or so. Not in terms of expanding population, but sustainability.

It's funny that we stack a hundred floors filled with people on top of each other, and what are they really doing besides creating garbage? Working? At what? A plastic game of make-believe, mostly.

So instead of using up a bunch of space to trade monopoly money, what if we filled that space with agriculture? Why not a 30 story tall climate controlled farm? Pretty much a guaranteed harvest unless the building burns down, falls down, etc. But we'd have SO MANY of them...

If we can produce enough food, in theory, overpopulation wouldn't really be that much of an issue.

Like I said before, blanket approach, if you are already living off our dime, you dont have that right sorry. In a lot of states if a man cannot pay his child support he gets put in jail until he comes up with a plan on how he can pay his child support. That's a sad article. You're accurate in your comment but you didn't mention the time line it would take to die off.

I suck at math. But if the population decreases by 1/2 per 100 years for then 1000 years we'd be here at

6.2 billion population / 2 per hundred 100 years for the next 1000 years = 6 million people in year 2109. That's assuming the child per mother ratio is 1. That's a scary number. But we have to make it there first and I'm more worried about the next 100 years.

Besides, the United States really isn't all that far above the replacement level for population growth/change, which is part of what is contributing to the Sword of Damocles floating over our heads in the form of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. We simply do not have enough new citizens to continue keeping the ponzi scheme that Social Security is afloat.

Save Social Security? The simple solution (besides just privatizing the entire rotten mess) is to have more children (more replacement workers to slave for the retiring workers.)

The reason I don't mind my own business and not talk about something I'm curious about is because I feel it's the number one problem in the world and I wanted to discuss it on a site with people who share similar hobbies as myself.
