This tying and bending is new to me so if anyone got some insight please post it.
I got a generL IDEA BUT WOULD LIKE EXPERIENCE TO TALK
This is my first time doing LST with MJ plants, but I used to do it with both house and outdoor plants. I can tell you one thing to not forget to do, like I did a few days ago! (It's been a few years & I'm rusty!) I performed an "accidental topping" the other day, because when I went to tighten the ties a bit to adjust to new growth, I forgot to first untie the plant for at least a few hours if not up to a couple/few days, so the "weak spot" on the stem where it'd previously been tied just snapped apart. This is especially true when you're adjusting a spot that's already been tied as opposed to tying down a new spot (as was my case), or tying a new spot right above the old one. That is where "low to no" stress becomes very stressful. Untying them every few days to a week or so will allow those weak spots to gain strength again, and prevent an "accidental topping" like one of mine had. (I was going to take cuttings anyway, so that top got trimmed and plopped into my AG. So no damage was done, but I still got mad at myself for forgetting this step!)

Hell no i dont waste no time..this life is too short and i wanna smoke just the best.Right now dirt ass shwag mexican brick weed is going for 80-100.00/oz. Thats fuccing crazy! I aint payin it..ill smoke what i grow before i spend that.
Wow, I thought it was bad here!!! The lowest of the low goes for $55 oz. in my area, but there are no "mid" prices to be found. It's crap, chronic, or kush. The chronic the last couple of years has been no more than "mid" quality, which is disgusting at $300 an oz.! That's about it. So prices go from $55 to $300 to $400 (or higher) an oz. Guess how crazy the brick moves around here! This is why I finally decided I've gotta grow my own! I can't afford even the "mid" prices, and the brick has gotten worse and worse the last few years! Extremely low potency, and the taste has gone from "gross" to "gag".... literally!!! It's so bad that it's not worth the $55, and I got tired of saying, "Well, it's the best I can do, so I gotta make the best of it!"

Thaks for the info Kat! I use paperclips to move things around and hold things down but you're right on the doulble LST. They don't like it one bit unless you release the binding. I usually take them off after about a week and they make that little U-Turn trying to get back to the light.

Prices have been pretty steady where I'm at. $160-180 for nothing special bags and the real "good" stuff ranges for $400-500 but is not close to worth it. Hydro was available early in the spring and it went for $800/oz when you could get it which made me laugh but somehow peaceful in the knowledge of what I had! Can't bring myself to sell any and that was never the plan anyway. Give a couple of o's to a friend of mine who was recently diagnosed with cancer and it helps him alot. Helps him eat and sleep so he can deal as best he can. What we are doing may be illegal but it's the right thing to do.

True I have had this very similar experience, although I'd leave em for more like 2 weeks tops 1 week they tend to straighten up a little bit two weeks they are rock solid.

Hey, if anyone can learn from my mistake, then I've done something right! When this happened the first time (yes, there were two! LOL), I figured I just wasn't being gentle enough, as my hands have fairly severe tremors and I always have to compensate for this. The second time around, I got really mad at my "clumsiness" and was about to throw in the towel RE: the LST, so my clumsy hands wouldn't break anymore stems. Then I suddenly remembered about untying and letting them toughen up first, which simultaneously made me a bit more annoyed with myself for forgetting something so simple yet crucial, and relieved that it wasn't how I was handling them but just that they needed to be released for a while first.

I now have the other two untied, and won't retie them until they're stronger where they'd been previously tied. After they toughen up, they get stronger than before due to the "scarring" from the restraints, and then you have to actually try to break that spot again.

I didn't read up on LST before starting it on this grow because I used to do it all the time, especially with ficus trees. So I didn't think I needed to read any "how to's" for LST.... I already knew how to do it. That's what I get for not brushing up on something I haven't done in about six years!

greenfirekilla, I'm planning on going your route from here on out. Wait a bit longer to release them, just so they don't straighten up too much which just makes it a little more difficult to tie them down again. The whole idea is low to no stress, not creating more. :D

Hey Purp - have you grown 5 different strains in one tank before? I'm curious how you handle the different veg and flower times for each. I'm assuming they're pretty close to being the same.

I did it a couple of times when growing bag seed but since I've grown fem seeds for awhile I'm out of practice. LOL! I know I can do it. For future breeding's sake I'm going to transfer the males to some hempy pots to finish giving me pollen.

That's what I intend to do eventually as soon as I figure out how to be deft enough to do one branch/bud at a time.

Just use a fine paint or makeup brush to apply pollen to buds of your choice, and turn off all fans beforehand and shortly afterwards or else.... If you're married, ask your wife to give you a hand. Women know how to carefully use a makeup brush! :hump: ;)
