Yes you are paranoid. That is nothing. Many appliances use that much and more (eg heated whirlpool). They aren't going to say, "aha! he must be growing pot! In fact with some conservation and switching to cfls you could probably save almost that much elsewhere in your home.

60 amps?? what are you running? 6 1000 watt bulbs ++ ?
with that kinda draw, you will be attracting attention unless its a very large house.

My house is nearly 4000 sq ft. In August of last year the electric bill was $95 less.

I want to do the math for amps but i think I am right:

two 1000w ballasts= 9.5 amps each
the 6" inline fan to cool said lights= 4 amps
the 10000btu AC pulls nearly= 12 amps
the extra inline fan to help keep pulling air out of the room is another= 4 amps
there are 3 articulating fans=2 amps each?
another small fan=.5 amps
the pump that comes with the aeroflo36= 3 amps
small air pumps circulators etc=2 amps?

thats 50 amps more than normal right?
thats all im sayin...trust me i want to sleep well tonight!

This new shit Im smoking is definitely helping.:eyesmoke:

If anybody asks just say you got a fishtank and a huge plasma TV set. Some 42 inch plasma tvs can consume as much as 400 watts or more.

A plasma tv doesnt account for 50 amps of draw...

Still posing this question???

I also just reviewed my electric bill online from last year and compared it to this year and from what I can see the spike month where the cost was the highest last year was August...this year it was a little earlier, it was in July.

So the highest power usage month last year topped 7500kwh and this years month hit 8848kwh...

Was the one from last year just an estimate?...odd the 7500 is even...thinking they may not have done an actual reading.

Hmmm do I have a concern with 2, 1000watt lights, fans and the works running non stop?

Bro I never said a plasma tv accounts for 50 amps. You are worrying for nothing is my point. The power company wants your business, why would they turn in their best customers to the cops. If anybody asks say you got the big tv AND a large fishtank with lights and pumps and all the bells and whistles. Very easy ways to explain that kind of power usage.

Also,

"you know mr. neighbor/inquisitive whomever, it costs a lot of money for this home office to run. My copier litterally breakdances it's so advanced, my servers are so hot I got to cool them with commercial units, and my garage, that compressor and all those tools, it's really starting to add up...I'm thinking about investing in solar like Pete down the street."

Actually, if you're ballin' a nice solar setup is initally about $18k here in Ca. My buddy said retail is $30k but after all the credits and what not it's about $18k out of pocket and he says it almost runs his whole house. He has three kids too!

Congress might throw solar in for everyone!!! :bigjoint:

We all are, even in Cali. My grow is 100% legit by state standards but worry about thieves.

I work from home so it does make it easier to keep an eye on things. As far as the man...like my buddy said, wanna make a million dollars selling weed. Do it in 10 years.

If you get too big you get hot.

As long as you're paying your bill without being late you should have no problems with the power company. You only need to worry when Obama gets his Cap-and-trade bill passed that you will have to worry about how much energy you are consuming so the Energy Nazis don't come pounding down your door.

So if my timer is kicking on a 20+ amp draw at 3am when my lights come on...how the fuck does that get explained? Do people use timers on other appliances to turn on or off to coincide with the lights?....

I want back ups for my back ups!

Wow! You are paranoid! I'd get rid of the plants if you are that concerned! That kind of mentality can really draw a lot of bad karma.

Unless you have a HUGE operation, where you're planning to provide a whole county with pot, I don't think the electrical company is looking at your bill specifically.

My ex wifes sister and brother in law lived in a dbl-wide trailer. It was as old as dirt and falling apart and the central a/c unit never cycled off because of all the air leaks in the structure. Their electric bill was between 450-500 per month on a levelized billing plan and they don't even grow. Then Katrina came along and wiped out the trailer. Then they got a new dbl-wide trailer which is energy effecient and their electric bill went down to around 150 per month and the electric company came out to investigate why the sudden drop in their bill. They thought they were stealing power. So it just goes to show you they (power co.) don't give a rats ass how much you use (within reason) just pay the bill cause their only intrest is to make $$$$$$ and don't even think about stealing power from them. Cause that is how most people get caught by the power comp.

Yeah but,

If people are trying to steal the power then I just assumed that the electricity issue was not easily solved.

So is it safe to say that if you start comparing pregrow to post grow....electric bills that is from this time last year I am eating 1300kwh MORE each month since I've started....anyone else notice this?
