Has anyone ever tried an auto in a hempy bucket? Is this wise? I know it takes a while for the roots to hit the reserve but will that matter? And my bucket is 5 gallons is that over kill? Grow will be Diesel Ryder

I'm sure I could post this question on another thread, but I do grow Auto's alone. Here is a question about transplanting. One of my hydro units is the rainforest 66/318... Just different lids really...

My question. I started them in 3 inch net pots, they did fine, great roots and all, but that hydro unit was using a submersible pump, so as they mature they desire less reservoir temperatures. I believe this why they did well in the beginning, warmer root zone temps. But they started to show negative signs about 2 weeks in, roots were browning, growth stunted, and I just couldnt keep cooling down the res, (That was hitting 80+ temps at times. )

I transplanted them to 6" net posts to put in the rainforest system. I have only grown in the rainforest from begining to end before, I have never transplanted from 3" net pot to 6" net pot before... So the question.. Whats the best way? I put a thin layer of hydroton on the botton, then carefully circled the roots around the outside, figured they had the easiest root to nutes that way, and carefullly surrounded 3" pot with hydroton... Every one of them stunted.. Now keeping in mind Im using an auto blueberry, which is already sensative. A little bit of leaf curling, but nothing major, but near 0 growth on any for over a week, where as they were doing fine....

The roots are finally poking out of the 6" net pots and exposed to the areoponic yummy nutes, fresh bringht green new growth is popping up and they look to be cruising again, root zone is about 68 degrees. They look like they will be fine, but because its an auto I cant make up the growth lost during that time, and a week of veg time on an auto is HUGE, especially 3rd week.. They should have been launching like rockets, well, begining too....

Once the roots popped out, one by one they greened up and started again, so there is no doubt in my mind the transplanting was the issue... I dont have room to start everything in 6" pots, The system I use starts in 2" or 3" and then transplant to 6"...

For those with experience, do I have to change how I do this, and start and finish in the same sized net pot? I guess yes because the least amount amount of root disturbance would be best, but people transplant all the time and if done carefully should be fine.. Thoughts on the best way to do this? I have AK's coming up in 3" and I dont want this to happen again. those auto's need every day of un interupted grownth as possible, they werent autos I could just make up the time with a week of veg growth, but obviously not an option here...

My Easyryder's 8 weeks old now. I think I should let her go for at least another week. I guess I should get a scope, but thought I could just eyeball it and make an educated guess. I fed her with Big Bloom and molasses yesterday, but now think I should be in the flushing stage. You kinda forget how quick these AF's finish. Cheers.

Kinda like hydro just a lot simpler. There is a thread on riu about hempy buckets AZgrow started it. Hempy sounds like the way to go for me. I guess as long as I water often till the roots get established in the reservore I will be fine. What about 5 gallon bucket? Has any one ever done an Auto in a 5 gallon container?

WHat is a hempy bucket... thats not hydro is it?

:weed: did some counting:dunce: this little girl is 61 days since germ. the trichs are starting to cloud up. another week. started flushing 3 days ago.:peace:

Peace Killa....Yeah, your girl looks great, but from what I have read you have to wait for the pistils to recede before you chop her down. that may happen in a week or longer. The 70day guesstimate is for the fact that the breeder only had to give them 70 days while he grew them and that's what they tell the bean co. You may or may not have the same conditions as the breeder and therefore you have to rely on the plant to tell you. Unless the pistils (hairs) start to recede and turn brown in the next few days, you probably should wait until they are beginning to assess the harvest date.

I only offfer the advice as a person who has done extensive reading on the subject and I don't pretend to know other than the book and my experience. Since I have had no harvest as of yet and I've been experimenting with schwagg beans, I only offer the view from others who grow on this site and throuhg my readings. I trust that this is enough for you to GROW on.

The lady is beautiful anyway. Great job and good luck.:bigjoint:

Peace

PEACE S.J You're girl is beautiful, but I have a question about the thermometer/hygrometer that is just peeking from the top of the pic. Do you have problems with the temp and humidity with this. It looks to be the same one I have and I have had a problem with the humidity (I think). I tested it outside last night while it was raining and it read 33-35% humidity and no higher, YET IT WAS OUTSIDE AT THE TIME(the sensor that is):cuss:. Also with the sensor exposed like so do you have a problem with the reading of the temp as well. It seems that the gauges are off to me.

Have you had similar or the same experience? I know that it isn't right because it is wet to death outside right now and it is still reading 35% but I have the windows open and an inductor fan drawing the air from outside into the room. I have cups of water all around them and I have a Graco baby humidifier going as well. Yet with all of this, the gauge still reads under 40%( it does raise to 45% when I am lucky but it has the temp up when that happens as well.:cuss:

I've done all that I can and it still is the same. I know that there is nothing more to do as far as the humid. is concerned, (because I have all this water around them and it is evaporating) but I wanted to know if you have had this same problem with the gauge as well?

Thanks for the anticipated response and pluss rep for it and the great job you have done with your girl( I trust my efforts will produce the same result)!!!

PEACE:leaf:

Here's a couple updated shots of the topped plants. Now 14 days old, topped day 11 or 12.
More pics on my journal of course.
Cheers.

Got two short riders and a roadrunner started two weeks ago..

Question for anyone who's used advanced nutrients bud blood before.. should I still use on an autoflower? Since obviously I won't be switching to 12/12, I won't know exactly when to start it?

dude, why did you top them? there's no veg stage for them to grow more!
You've probably just diminished your yield by a shit load.

Yes, yes, I understand all that... I'm "taking one for the team" here and experimenting. I'll keep posting my progress, as there are a lot of people interested.
We'll see what happens.
