My worst mistake so far, was assuming that the soil/fert PH would be fine, because i got frustrated trying to use my cheap-ass electronic PH meter from Ebay.LOL Well, the plants started showing all kinds of deficiencies, so naturally, i added more fert, and fucked 'em all up.

I still managed to save them with a shitload of lime and water, and get a good yield, but it was definitely a lesson learned.

I think I've made every mistake in the book and I've learned (the hard way) from every one. My worst mistake was buying a hydro system from Stealth Hydro; that piece of crap system cost me 14 Blueberry plants. I guess it was the company more than the product; they shipped part of my supplies and didn't send the PH down for over a month. I called and wrote them but they never responded. Can you imagine waiting a month to get your PH down?

damn you guys are good..im almost ashamed of how many ive made..drown hundreds of dollars worth of beans by having paper towels to wet to germ with .
PH not adding lime to the soil. everything turned yellow almost with lock out.SUCKS. cloning problems . ( got that down pat)
burned almost all my mothers up with peruvian bird shit..by the way if you are juicing with co2 and have a problem it will be like ten times worse and show up fast and severe.
over veg plants let them get out of control.

Well, the OP just asked what is the worst thing that happened.

I'll add this one: when I first got my 400W, I hung it seven feet above my plants cuz I didn't want to fry them. My seedlings were about 6 inches tall with stems the thickness of a needle. Some RIU'ers bailed me out in time, though.

I left a dual florescent 48" on for three days in the main grow room, plants were in the 6th week of flower, when I came back and checked on the girls there was something very wrong? WTF next day I went and checked when the lights were off and found the problem. I turned it off and let the plants go back to 12/12 all 320 plants were crap. I put a timer on the light so it can't be left on.

I am usually a very cautious person and attend quite well to everything I do.....but not so much my roommate/partner in crime lol. We were growing in a closet during a year at college. Well the plants were doing fine, and they were in my room, so I double checked everything multiple times daily. Then winter vacation came, and I decided I had my timer set up properly, etc. Soil good, ventilation good, etc. I told him, "before you leave, a) pour water in the basin (I had made, to hold water for a prolonged time) up to here *I showed him where* and b) make sure you plug the timer in. Well he poured water in alright.... flooding my poor darlings... (don't worry, no electrical stuff near the water AT ALL...I told you I am cautious...and secondly, he plugged the plants in..but never bothered to check to see how the CFL bulbs were doing... The lights barely gave off enough light to read a book under.

I came back from vacation earlier than him, and nearly cried. My babies were all wilting, some were brown, all sad looking. I rushed to the store, got new bulbs, drained the water, changed all the soil, etc. I recovered 95% of the plants (one or two of them died I think). Actually, it was thanks to the help of you guys on here on Rollitup, that I found the info I needed to save them! (THANKS GUYS!)

I ended up with a nice indoor personal use yield from those plants in the end. I learned 2 things: ALWAYS double check everything, and NEVER trust anyone to do your job for you.

Yea My first two harvests I got spider mites killed with floramite, then next one I got root aphids which were a huge pain in the ass but I got them with azatrol and a home and garden pesticide. My last time to reup on clones at the dispensary they told me they might have mites or mildew so I brought them home and dipped them in some azatrol and serenade and it fried 5/6 of the ladies, One barely survived with only a couple of tiny little green leaves that made it, a hog plant that is very hearty...
Best of luck

My first 3 grows over 4 months all failed. I was so dumb I convinced myself I always had nutrient problems after about 1 week of growing. My dumbass always overwatered and the leafs always yellowed and fell off =[ Learned the hard way and wasted so many amazing beans

Great thread idea!

I have not yet fucked up too major. First time growing I vegged way too long, plants hit the ceiling, and I had to cut off the top colas way before their time was due. Lesson learned: veg for less time!

Also, I tried to reveg some plants but did not leave enough sites at the bottom, and they died. Lost a great strain that is super dank, never took clones stupidly and they came from random bagseed. Lesson learned: take some fucking clones next time!

Yea if you want something done right. Do it yourself. I never rely on anyone to help me out. i trust a timer more

...I tried to make my own soilless mix using 75% petemoss. Things got yellow quick! The pH went straight to hell! The soilless stayed soked! The roots got strangled, they stopped taking in water and died of thirst! WTF! ....so, I bought some FFOF, and never attempted the homemade mix again. I fiqured since my prior grow's soil dried sooo quickly (1/3 pete,1/3 vermurclite,1/3 perlite), I'd get some more water retaining medium in there and 75% petemoss wasn't the best of ideas...LOL

I tried to make self-watering pots for a grow. They actually worked--drawing up the solution from the reservoir that was under my plants.

My mistake became apparent when after adding nutes to my reservoir my plants started to discolor and crumble on the lower leaves. I thought "what the fuck!"

I read that this was a fad in the 80s and one should just do hydro right--I am using soil.

I removed the reservoirs to see a half-rotting/moldy gross water traveling up the wick. I am sure I had pH problems, lockout, nute burn, and deficiencies. I put my plants in regular pots with good drainage, flushed them, began to pH my water, and started over with nutes--being more careful this time. They just took off and the problem didn't get any worse. I guess I got lucky.

The worst I've done thus far - ok first grow, soaked a lot bagseed on a warm sunny windowsill, and next day, threw away all the "bad" seeds that sank, lol - and planted 50 of the rest - got 6 to sprout! They stretched like mad (on the damn windowsill again). Out of those, two got overwatered/underwatered to death, and one was eaten by a small caterpillar. The remaining three survived my loving attentions, only two of them, were male. That one sad girl left (out of probably 100 seeds or more) got stunted in clay-like soil, serious transplant shock after I decided to attempt to FIM her first, nute overdose, and she lost most of her leaves early on in flowering - after which point, the buds didn't really grow. I did get a meager 12 grams off the plant, lol. So I guess my entire first grow was the worst I've done! Definately learned a lot from it!

I told a friend of 10 years about my grow and he told on me to get off a minor weed charge. He got busted with like a quarter sack and would have got 3 months probation and I already had 3 felonies which is now 4 and I was in some serious shit. I learned not to tell a single mother fucker about shit cuz most people are BITCHES!

^^^ thats fucked up! Violence, in that case, is always the answer..

I got another, let the truth fly, feel like im in confessional. I wanted to do White Widows, I knew to get em through Mr. Nice. But I was being cheap. I found some WW Max, at 420seeds.com. It said, faster, stronger, bigger yielder, blah blah..
I got my seeds. 10/10 germed. 9/10 were female. 9 of 10 were also different phenos. Not 1 resembled the next. I actually did everything right on the grow. 3-1000w Co2. Lets just say, i grew some Awesome lookin MIDS!
What did I learn, go wit the OG's. All these Breed-Thiefs care about is $$. If they keep seeds cheap enough, someone will buy em. You get what U pay for...
