I wish that heavy lifting built lean mass too. Does it, maybe I am wrong. I am stuck now as I only go for bulk now. I have a long way to go. But I read all this lean and maybe I should throw a lean day or some lean set in there?

IDK.

I am still going everyday. Makes me a lot happier afterwards. Eat right too still. Frickin asparagus at night instead of grill cheese sandwhichs.

As Babs pointed out, going with High Reps/Low Weight can be substituted for cardio... Just like in cardio, you are performing an exercise for an extended period of time, which in turn means your heart rate remains high for a long time.

Whenever I lift, I usually try to incorporate both heavy weight/low reps along with high reps/low weight. Towards the end of my workout, when I'm already tired and can't lift as much weight, I switch over to lighter weight and more reps. I have bad knees, so by doing this I can avoid putting pressure on them while still increasing my heart rate more than heavy lifting can.

Since you said you are going for bulk, how much protein are you taking in? How many carbs? How many calories? I'm sure you don't know exactly, but I just thought I'd ask. Since you said you are a big guy, I would say you should be eating at least 200g of protein a day, a hefty dose of good carbs (wheat, fruit, etc.). If weight gain (good weight) is your goal, you also better be taking in a large amount of calories to get the most out of your workouts. Also, if you haven't added creatine to you supplement list I would definitely recommend it. Creatine Monohydrate specifically... it's one of your muscles main source of energy and should be taken 3-5g everyday, even on off days.

If you want to go into bodybuilding you have to get the right nutrients. Just like your plants. A bodybuilder needs a steady manageable routine I do 5 days a week average 90 minutes a session. Next the nutrients the right protein is the key. You want to get a daily intake of 0.8 - 1.0 grams per pound of body weight. Also you have to eat good foods. Lots of carbohydrates I eat peaches, oranges, and bananas every day. Lean meat and eggs are good too.

I put together a twelve week routine that I found in an old workout magazine. It broke training into 4 groups of body parts to train at different times to maximize muscle confusion techniques.

Don't forget your body can only use about 40g of protein every few hours...anything extra is a waste.

Traps? Legs? Lower Back? Obliques?
Traps=Shoulders...He said he does back, so i'm assuming he does lower back. Youre obliques usually get worked with abs....i like straight arm pull downs with a cables and a straight bar. Running for 45 mins seems like legs to me, also. 45 mins seems a bit steep to be running though. I run 3 miles in about 20 minutes...you running a marathon? hahaha :eyesmoke:

Hey whats up cool kats...never would I have thought that my two passions in life would come together on the same forum......I've definetly "been there and done that" with regards to every aspect of bodybuilding (gaining, losing, bulking, cutting)...Im not a big guy, standing at 5'6ish.. But I weigh 160..Most people think im 175-180...I am currently in my 2nd week of my "80 days before vacation routine"..... My routine now is heavy weight, low reps,...eat, eat, eat...small but healthy meals....cardio to a minimum...then the last 20 days...brutal cut back....pull that 6 pack right up and out...

Had two "brownies" last night..followed by 2 huge glasses of milk....Up and ready to go workout...feel like shit which brings me to my point...If you want to be a fucken calories burning machine...you need good fuel....You can cheat once a week and reward yourself...I wont be drinking milk or eating brownies for a while..Back to soy milk..Anyhoo...Eat good, sleep good, smoke good and youll be all good....
