My First Aero Garden - My Journal

Hi Everyone,

It's been about 2 weeks since my Aerogarden has been turned on. My equipment used is as follows:

Equipment:

Aerogarden 6 Space Saver
100% Maple Pantry - Grow Cabinet
CFL Light - Temporary
Neptune's Harvest 2-4-1 Organic Fish Fertilizer

Upgrades:

Just ordered my 90w LED Quad Spectrum Light. This will replace my current AeroGarden CFL Light.

Status:

It's been exactly 12 days since I've planted my seeds, and I've attached picture for everyone to see. I will keep the community updated in this journal, and would like some pointers on keeping it contained within this space.

So far so good.
I have never grown anything in an aerogarden other than the seed kits that you can get for the aerogarden.
So with that being said...................................
Really the only downside I see with using one is the available room for the roots. They get all tangled up and makes it hard to do a transplant down the road if needed or wanted.
But other than that they seem to get the job done.

I appreciate your positive and encouraging words. As for the transplant.....not looking to do that. Maximum goal for growth is around 3 ft. I'll keep you updated.

If you could attach a couple 2x4's along the inside of the grow cabinet and build a scrog screen above your plants you could get a wicked little harvest in that space. But hey I figure all out or nothing. Maximize your yield while you can and train them suckers how you want them. With the hood of the aero-garden and maybe a few cfls for lights you could train them suckers into a 2 foot by 2 foot lawn of buds. All smooth and tight like a putting green. Oh yeah, its work but it gives you results.

Thanks for all the advice as well as positive input. It's day 14 today, and the girls are looking real healthy. I finally ordered my LED grow light. Very excited to try that out. Heard nothing but great reviews. I've attached more pics. Any more advice?

Thanks for all your input man. Real quick question. Until I PH meter/solution arrives, can i just dump out the water and put clean filtered water again? Will that take care of it temporarily, until the solution/meter arrives?

I would just wait till you get the meter, the pH wont lower just from changing it, but you could to give them some fresh water

while your at it cover the holes on your ag creates mold and light is not good for roots!! makes sure all your sponges are covered also!!my 2 cents!!

@SICC....You've been great help buddy, and thanks for all your input man.

So here's my status:

It's now day 16 and my plants are doing a lot better now. I had to change up a bunch of things.

First off, DON'T USE Nature's Harvest 2-4-1 Fish Fertilizer. Not only does it stink, it practically ruined my babies. The pH was all off whack. When I finally got my meter, the pH was 8.6. WAY OFF THE CHARTS! Did a nutrient flush and cleaned out the water tank for the aero.

Nutrients: I now use Techniflora's Success Starter Kit nutirents. I also have bat guano when it's flowering time. The picture I've added do look horrid, but the plants were way worse a couple of days ago.

With the advice of SICC, I did cover up the extra holes on my Aero. Any other input, advice? Oh and my pH now is at a steady 6.2, and I'm also using a B-1 foliage spray to get the greens back on the plant. You'll see residue in the pics I've uploaded.

The lights were close to the plant for some time (lowest setting for AG). I just raised it yesterday as well (mid - highest setting for AG). I figured the heat from the light source was causing added problems.

Starting next week I will be using my 90w LED quad spectrum light and replacing the 25w cfl I'm using right now. The 90w will be attached to the top of my enclosure.

The LEDs should be a little better. Try to keep the lights as close as possible for now while they're still small tho, to prevent stretching! They can be within a couple inches. As long as the overall temp around the plant and in your grow space is around 75-80F, and you've got air movement from fans, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
The pH balancing should definitely help out, as well as covering up those holes.
They should be on the right track again!!

It's now day 19, and the girls are looking much healthier. Humidity is constant around 55, and the temperature is constant around 72. The tallest one is about 5" and the shortest one is about 3". I've attached some more pics. Wayyyyyyyyy more healthy than a couple of days ago.

Lookin good man, give em a week or so and they will be nice and fully green, in hydro, pH is key. As long as its in line your plant will do fine
