growing in rental house

Cool, & why don't you go back a page to see where I posted it first, if this is a competition. As for the poster, I wasn't being harsh, simply straight-up honest. We all LOVEEEE to talk about our plants & wish we had someone to do it with. They're our children for 9 weeks in flowering like a chick has a baby for 9 months. It's the same care to us :P That's why most of us resort to forums such as these so we can show off, get ideas, do something creative, and maybe learn something along the way. Thus said, if he opened his mouth to someone, he could be looking at some serious charges NO MATTER WHAT STATE in the US. It's not my ass that will get in trouble, but I like to put a stop to bad ideas before someone gets in trouble for something that SHOULD BE absolutely legal.

As far as being a tool, why don't you wake up & realize that even if you have a medical card, with that size grow the government can go after your ass like nothing. I'd rather be a tool & playing it safe than to be all relaxed like some "thinking" they have the perfect stealth grow op.

Think about it...If you deny your landlord access, you had better get those plants far away from your house within the next 24. People aren't stupid, and it's very easy to realize when someone is nervous about something. These people have rented to others before; I'm sure they know some warning signs.

even if the landlord was to come to your house to see how you are doing he CANNOT use a key and just enter. he'll most likely knock and youll see its him. then as stated before just talk to him outside or something say you're girlfriend is naked or some shit or just tell him your busy. he CANNOT just enter the house. and police? if they come tell them to slide the warrant under the door then you'll open up. I'm in Hawaii and we need two day notice.

*EDIT*
but I do agree. You are not immune to the law and you definitely should not think that you are. I wouldn't do something huge in a rented house. Just keep your mind of what you're doing somewhere between crazy paranoia and narcissistic over-confidence.

Growing in a rental is risky business anyways. My sister used to have a very nosy landlord & she had nothing to hide. She ended up buying because we caught him in the house one time. It's illegal to change the locks & not provide him with a working set...How do you know he's a law-abiding citizen...know what I mean?

if you catch him in the house sue him for breach of contract. how can that even be a question? evidence can not be used against you if obtained in an illegal manner according to the "fruit of the poisonous tree" doctrine. him being in your house ILLEGALLY will protect you against him.

*edit*
just had to add that if this does happen, you better have some common sense and get those plants the fuck away from your house.

never said it was a competition. Just trying to figure out why he would be fucked following my advice, when simply put i said the same thing you did, but gave him other factors to consider. And we are not missing the point we are simply stating the facts and laws of renting to someone who needs help to better understand them. You can counter any friendly renter by stepping outside when he shows up. U can deny anyone including the police entry to your house unless they have just cause. Thanks to out local and federal governments

if he's going to go in without you knowing, do you think he's just going to call the cops? Nah, I don't know why everyone thinks landlords are retarded? They are just as smart as you & have seen enough COPS episodes to know that all they have to do is make an anonymous report of smell, or complain that they smelt it when they were over collecting rent. For every cover-up, there's another door open. Protect yourself completely if you're not growing in your own home. Short, sweet, simple.

if you're worried about this, setup a security camera in an inconspicuous spot outside where your grow area is. game set and match. ;D

Also, if you pay your rent on time, don't mess with neighbors and are in all other ways a good citizen with no complaints there is a very low chance the landlord will be out to get you. If you were to get kicked out, the damages you would have to pay are equal to the rent. Also, he has to be looking for another tenant while you're paying and once it is found you won't have to pay anymore OR you'll be paying the difference if he found someone for cheaper. There should be no reason a landlord is out to get you like this. Why would he want to go through the litigation process for no difference in profit?!?!

..you'll be fucked in more ways than one if you get caught.......

if that's what you're meaning, then I think you read it entirely wrong. I literally meant what I typed. Have you ever grown a big SCRoG? I grew a 3 x 3 & in 3 gallon pots. that's already 27 gallons plus whatever water's in there...then they're in wire together....try moving that in a hurry is what I mean...you'd literally be fucked. Ya know what happens if you deny a cop entry? They'll probably be back that day with a warrant or the following day should it seem suspicious enough. They'll check Electricity records if needed, etc. Plus, if your carbon filter isn't the TOP SHIT, having that big of a SCRoG, it will be a bitch to constantly keep that from smelling.

Trees = good .. SCRoG = permanent unless you have some wide ass arms.

Is that serious, too? Who in their right mind would ask their landlord unless he said, hey look at my plants, then you may be inclined. Even then, legal or not, don't ask, don't tell. It's all about keeping your mouth shut. That's why we have this...to brag :P

Good Luck!
dude i couldnt have said it any better myself. ++reps

I get what the laws are as well; I took the real estate licensing course while in school minoring in business. It helped with/get me out of a class. They vary, but are generally the same, state-to-state, with minor differences. Just because something is the law, doesn't mean there's not a way around it. There are people growing plants, not law-abiding, but there's a loophole:

you don't get caught :)

I've had bad experiences in the past with laws not holding up to par, so be careful is the shortened version.

yes stan im agreeing he should not scrog, but he should just grow a plant or a few plants - maybe try a smaller size tent? I don't want any hostility im just trying to go back and forth so we can get all kinks out so he can protect himself the best. also, sorry that i stopped using punctuation and correct grammar im just super lazy right now :)

haha don't say sorry to me...I'm not angry about anything. I've just seen too many busts, and am completely for mj in med research and personal recreation. I get so aggravated when I see cops on tv bust into someone's home for a plant. Hell, salvia is legal, why not pot? Everyone has their own way of doing it; this topic just touches nerves when cops have nothing more important to do than confiscate it, raise the price on it by double, and then book the guy for 5 years when chances are, he probably has a med card & needs it.

why would you need to get rid of your plants? The landlord cant go inside your house just because they want too. they have to have a reasonable repair or agreement to do so. AGAIN if we are talking about Cali. You have to stand up for your rights, don't be a pussy, but also be polite and tactful. Worse case scenario is they give you a notice to move. So what? why the hell would anyone want to live like they are on parole for christs sake??? These are your rights people use them!!! I am very confident my landlord will never know i'm growing, because i decide who the hell comes into my house, and i am 100% legal. I don't need to disclose shit to him. I take care of the place, pay my rent and that's as far as it goes.

okay, but if you carry that attitude with him in person, he'll look for anything he can to use against you. It's not hard to say he smells a funny smell whether he does or not. Whether you have rights in Cali or not ( I come from there & have had the med card ), rights are bullshit. You have them as far as the law lets you have them. What I mean is that they can always come up with something. A funny smell is a probable cause (I'm guessing) to attain a warrant, or to tip off police. Again, you may not even have a smell, but if your landlord hates you or gets into an argument with you, you might catch the ass end of it. I'd love to see actual freedom in place one day. England has this much over the States. It may be illegal to grow, but at least they decriminalize up to a large number. I hate it that the States (as open-minded as they are) fails to see the good in this plant.
