here's the potting soil I picked up at the dollar store... going to compare 2 pots of miracle grow to this stuff i got for a buck.
Im tired of people saying miracle grow will kill your plants. My outdoor ladies have been in miracle grow the entire time and they look fine.
This will show exactly the difference between a potting soil that costs a buck and stuff people say kills weed (miracle grow)
potting soil that costs a buck : recycled green material, redwood bark, perlite and sand. *Does not contain human or animal waste.*

Well its mostly a preference thing, some times MG does kill plants, but other times it doesn't.
Same thing with the whole root bound thing, people swear you can't grow a plant where there is limited room for the roots, but you saw my party cup grows, almost got an ounce out of less then 16oz of growing medium lol.

Yea, I read about MG killing plants because of the high level of initial nutrients so I just give the soil a good flush for 2 days to get all that extra out of it before i plant anything in it.
Your party cups are thinking outside the box and a great example of testing the limits and what people say.

I woke up and checked on the seeds that are germing.
First...(5 in wet paper bag)
Out of the 2 that I had notice began to split along the seem yesterday one of them had the tap root out and the other one the split had grown larger. I planted the one that had the tap root out in miracle grow soil that has been flushed 2 days. I make a hole in the wet soil with the end of a pen about 1 cm deep. I make the hole pretty wide so my fingers have room to slide the tap root down into the soil with the seed shell still exposed at the surface of the 1 cm hole. Then I lightly sprinkle dirt over the 1 cm hole with the seed in it.
Second...(5 in shoot glass)
all 5 have sunk. Dont see any of them spliting open yet. Might move them into the wet paper bag tomorrow morning if still no results.

Woot! another tap root poped out today... So I planted it...
I carefully wet my fingers and pick up the seed...
have a soil pot wet and ready with a hole big enough for my fat fingers to fit in
Then I slide the end of the tap root into the wet soil gently
And then I bury the root and leave the seed shell above the soil barely.

wow.. im liking this journal A LOT!! Keep up the good work man!! Love all the pics u take! finally! someone as trigger happy with their camera as I am.. wen my plants start budding.. i end up takin like 20-30 pics of them.. lol. but each one is different.
I've done a few indoor grows.. that turned out great.. but im gonna give outdoor growing a shot too.. i germed one Fem White Widow seed.. adn planted it yesterday. waitin for it to sprout.. then gonna grow it indoors for 2-3 weeks.. and then throw it outside and see how it does...
my friend just sent me 4 Purple Power seeds too! =D gonna see how the White Widow does.. adn if it grows... adn no1 fucks with it.. im gonna throw a couple purple power seeds out there with it. i live in new englad.. soooo the weather's a lil bit chilly around here.. but i figured by the time i finish veggin the WW plant.. it should be warm enough. =)
I have like 20 nice bag seed seeds as well.. adn i think i might try what ur doing as well... just germing like 5-10 of them.. and then throwin them outsside... i might veg them for like... a week.. just to get them going. and then stick them outside. well.. im deff subscribing to this thread.. feel like i can learn a lot from this thread.. and I LOVE all the pics!!! Thanks for subscribing. It sounds like youve got some good seeds. Im sure you will have nice big plants in a month or 2. I just give mine tap water with no nutrients and they grew. But it was slow growth. With Veg nutrients you can get much bigger plants then what I got going.
SICC and many others ( cruzer101 , earl , victorvicious... ) deserve props because I try to copy them and make small changes to keep it lower budget.

yeaa i got some veggin nutes i might try using here and there. and see how they like it.
and yeaa i know. SICC helped me outlate last year with my 1st grow.. which was a disaster... lmao. i got about an ounce of sum very very seedy hermie weed.. lol. but SICC had helped me out through the WHOLE thing. stuck through till the end.. and sooo alot of things i've learned were from him. =)
