Hi this is a massive thread and to be honest im really not on reading the hole thing lol... iv just got me self some mi5 auto flowering seeds... they all sprouted and are now 2 days in pots of soil and i plan to put them out side or maybe its not a good idea living in England im not sure atall i could do with some good advise any advise for that matter lol...
I bought some auto ak-47 seeds about 3 months ago, with the intention of growing them in my parents greenhouse. However, after doing a lot of research I reached the conclusion that auto flower plants achieve their full potential more often inside. The main reason I see for this is that inside you have the power to give the plants 20 hours of fully intense light every day - with auto's, in general, it seems that more light = bigger plants and higher yields. That isnt to say that growing outside is a waste of time, there are some amazing auto flowers in this thread that have been grown outside, but I would guess that in these circumstances all other conditions were perfect (not sure how likely this is here in England, we've had a stunning 3 weeks - how often do our summers stay like that?). What light have you got them under indoors? Because my suggestion would be to put them outside on the good days, and keep them inside under your lights on the bad/rainy days (but only if the intensity of light you have indoors is sufficient). I would also consider moving them inside under your lights when it gets dark outside, so as to insure that they get 20 hours of light every day, and therefore 4 hours of dark. What size pots do you have them in? Because pot size also has an affect on how well your plants will grow, if they're in small pots then make sure you let them dry out between waterings (this will make the roots search out the pot more quickly) and be ready to transfer into a pot of at least 2 gallons as soon as they are ready.

Whatever happens, I hope your grow goes well, always good to see new English growers. Im still a noob myself, so dont want to act like im an expert, but ive done lots of research and am more than happy to share what ive learnt, so feel free to ask away.

Cheers

I would use vinegar instead of lemon juice to lower ph. Either way I dont see the point. The soil is going to buffer it and change it back to what the soil is no matter what you put in. Unless you use some phosphoric acid, but not worth the explosions and melting your skin.... Soil is an excellent buffer of PH. So is water, whatever dissolved solids are in your water making it high ph will change it back to a high ph soon enough.

Sorry, I dont understand. Are you suggesting I dont adjust my water ph? My tap water is ph8.

Thanks thats a very useful bit of advise :)... indoors under a 600w sunmaster mh lamp... and pots are 4", im not sure what that transfers to in gallons or even litres but space is some what an issue so they may have to stay in them unless i can find some skinny but really tall pots... either way your advise will not be taken lightly lol... cheers...

My water is above 8 pH and i never adjust unless in hydro. My runoff water is usually about 6ish. And if I feed them, the nutes adjust it to around 6.

In the Joint Doctor grow guide I think he recommend at least a 3 gallon pot and that is what I am using.

Bigby In my past 6 or so years of growing I have never worried with my Soil ph level. Not saying its wrong to check it if you want

but Ive never had an issue myself. I recently went and got a soil ph meter because of a sim situation just to check my ph levels

and all were around 5.7 to 6.3 so i packed that meter back up and wont use it again, just ='s more work IMO.

Yep, its not worth it, especially for autos, they live so short your soil isnt going to change ph. Its all a bunch of hype. Hydro you have to for sure.

Some interesting stuff there peeps, food for thought. Ive had a few issues that through researching I had put down to ph issues causing nutrient lock out. This seemed to be backed up when my run-off water was coming out at 7.5ph even though I was putting it in at 6ph - basically this is after I did a few waterings with 8ph to try and correct a previous problem where the run-off was too low at just below 6. So, even though I respect the opinions of those more experienced than myself, the things said above seem to go against what ive seen with my own eyes. I think for my next grow im going to do a little comparison - have one plant where I dont adjust the water ph at all (so itl be ph8), and for the others adjust it down to the 6.5ph that is suggested in all the grow guides ive read.

When re-reading that before posting I remembered that I had added some epsom salts during the 8ph watering - is this likely to have had raised my soil ph at all?

your soil isnt going to change ph.
I swear mine has. The run-off started at just below 6, so I watered with 8 ph water a couple of times. Now when I water with 6ph water the run-off comes out at 7.5ph. The only explanation I can think of for this is that the soil ph has raised. Can you think of any other possible reason?

what the fuck are you talking about? you must be so redneck its not even funny... maybe the 12 year old RIU community thinks your shit is tight, but I don't.

I was asking about this particular strain. I never grew it before. If you don't think Autos need a veg spectrum your a real noob

anyone can throw a seed in dirt, some crinkly mylar on the wall, and through it under the same spectrum the whole time. Dude your autos of the same strains I'm growing are finishing up half my size and half my yield per plant. LOL

the veg time is so short that it dont really matter about the lights. but what ever dude you need to grow up and get a life, and leave me out of it. im not going to get in to a pissing contest with you . and ya i am a redneck, lol

and yes, it makes a huge fucking difference.
size and yield, dude seriously... your auto Ak plants should be much bigger.
I mean if you want small plants cause you have limited grow space that's one thing... but it looks to me like you got the room. So ideally yes, you want a veg spectrum during auto's vegetation.

Look at Bigby's shit, you know why his look better than yours?

Real shame that you guys are rowing :-(

You both seem like good guys, and have both helped me out with advice. Im sure that if we all met for real we'd be able to really enjoy a smoke together and would get on great. The internet really does a good job of causing ill feeling between people with very similar interests and outlooks.

Peace out guys. Here's hoping that you aren't actually getting as wound up as your posts suggests. *waves white flag* ;-) :peace:

right on big i hear ya. and my autos grow space is limited. and im not waisting my time any more with this guy. he talks shit on the pc like a kid. ill help any one that wants it. figure that the least i could do, after the help i got when i was a noobi. my grows is proven and backed up, and i learned every thing i know from good people here, and trile and error. i dont talk shit and dont give bad advice.

I don't see where I have gave bad advice, please point that out? You come in the forum, basically tell me I don't know what I'm doing. That autos dont' need a veg spectrum for optimum results, and your shit is half the yield and size of my grow with the same strain. I don't quite understand your redneck thought process. You might think your shit is proven, the only thing I see is your shit needs a lot of improving.
