Ohh my bad, well why wouldn't a state worker be able to get a card? I don't about a federal worker though, seeing as it's still illegal in every sense.
i've ben high for 10 years straight. put in my 60 a week while the boss watched me blaze all day. it was never an issue. for me anyways.

do you think pot is a debilitating drug?

i think it is for some, but i also feel A LOT of people can handle it. you would never know i was high most the time. but i am. ;)

I blazed almost everyday while working in a woodshop, never fucked myself up, or any (major) work for that matter. Infact, I would blaze, then realize something I did wrong while sober... happened all the time.

Also, I took my SAT's blazed, got a 1300.

Irresponsible people ruin good things for other people. Like MMJ in CA.

I've only been high for 4 years straight now ;). I think once you become a daily user, it no longer has some of the stereotypical side effects that people complain about. I to go to work stoned every day and you wouldn't be able to tell. But it's like when you stop smoking for just 1-2 weeks, it almost feels like getting high for the first time again.

Basically unless you're an experienced stoner, weed is absolutely debilitating. But hey that's just my opinion.

Happy toking.

Just outta interest...why would the Government want to tax this like crazy? They know full well that if the taxes are too high it'll either lower demand or push it back into the underground thus making the effort that went into Prop 19 a complete waste of time. They know the "sin tax" they apply has to be reasonable. Also voting no could have massive repercussions for medical patients, what if so many people vote no that the state decided to revist the MMJ laws to make it harder to get a card because so many people voted against Prop 19 for example? They can ammend the laws at any time without asking voters, they just cant get one in without the voters.

Come on guy, dont be so greedy, its about world reform not just maintaining the status-quo in California, Im from Ireland and if you guys dont legalise first, we NEVER will. Dont be greedy and vote yes.

if you guys actually READ prop 19, you'll notice that no where in there does it say anything about legalizing it. INFACT it sets up more regulation, and it designed to put alot of money into few hands. PLUS there will be a $600 per sqft FEE for growing! THATS 15,000 a year for 5x5. And if you go over 5x5, they will fine you $1000 a day!!! They also didnt limit how much they can tax it, so when they're hurtin they'l hit US first. They want to compare it, and treat it like alcohol... IS THERE A LIMIT to how much alcohol you can buy or consume???? NO!

This is a total trojan horse people, and VOTE NO! wait till 2012, there is another intiative in the works!!!

Denis Peron (prop 215 co-creator) doesnt support 19, and for good reason!!!! read up

Have you actually read the law or are you just making stuff up? Nowhere does it mention taxation of private grows. If you vote no your taking a step backwards and the Government will think "fuck you lot then, yous had your chance". This is pushing it closer to Federal legalisation, which by the way the MMJ programmes arnt protected from. If the Feds under a Conservative Government wanted to crack down they could arrest ALL the people involved in the MMJ programmes because under Federal law what you're still doing is illegal.

Dont think of Prop 19 as the finished deal, vote it in and use it as a stepping stone with amendments to liberalise it further. Little steps, slow and steady. If all the smokers in California vote this down instead of the lunatics that believe its "wrong", then Ill be really disappointed. If you guys cant legalise we've no chance here in Ireland, our Government wait and see how it goes and then if successful follow the lead of the bigger countries. Seriously guys, you's are being offered the gates to the Castle and saying no. #

I suspect theres alot more blackmarket dealers on this site than meets the eye, they'd be the only ones wanting to vote no...sure the MMJ crowd aint being touched by this new law at all, business as usual so I dont see why they'd wanna vote no.

Do you really think what happens in Cali or America in general only effects America? That'd be a pretty niave way of thinking.

EDIT: Come to think of it, Ireland a small country of 4 million started the "smoking ban", look how many countries took that up. Small ripples travel far man, so yes, this DOES effect me but I have to depend on YOU guys to make it happen.

i don't feel i'm responsible enough to carry the burden of the world upon my single vote. it's why i'm voting NO. ;)

Sorry bro, it's already too perfect in California the way it is. Maybe you should work on a decriminalizing it. Prop 215 is the best.

the MMJ laws stay intact, it doesn't affect those limits
government is already in the fold, and it's a wolf, this would pull a few of its teeth[/QUOTE. false

it allows local government to tax people that grow for personal use even prop 215 people
I grow my own weed under prop215 guess how much taxes I pay zero 0 non. if prop 19 pass this will change.true

So I posted my argument for decriminalization and against legalization on a Pro prop 19 board like this one....(not rollitup.org)
Got my comment removed.... Makes me even more suspicious of this prop. Why take a legitimate argument off?

It's like a mob mentality and the pro 19 people are just talking themselves into it. So when I try and bring up a valid point they remove it rather than debate it? WTF!

Sorry wasted a half hour writing a good argument just to get it deleted. Frustrating the ignorance of some people and there unwillingness to debate an issue.

there is absolutely no language in prop 19 for taxing the home grower, it's simply not there
there is language allowing the counties to regulate/tax commercial sales
there are some municipal propositions that propose taxes for either prop 19 or prop 215 grows
how the courts will deal with these laws is not clear, but they haven't been passed yet, they will happen regardless of prop 19 passing
if you think prop 19 allows taxing the home grower, please cut and paste the section you think gives this authority

FINALLY! im so happy to have read through a few pages on this thread and see people actually saying vote NO on 19! when i first tried spreading the word people jumped down my throat and told me not to be an idiot! now look. finally the truth has made its way out...

prop 19 doesnt legalize anything...it just further regulates it and subjects it to several "taxes and fees"...it also takes the control of the industry away from the people and puts it into the hands of big business (see oakland for example) and the state/gov (see taxes and "fees")

the people of california are better off going the prop 215 route instead of the prop 19 route. i keep hearing people say, "i shouldnt have to get a card, pay $100-$200, blah, blah, blah". well you can either get the card and get a minimum allowance of 6/12 plants per person and 1/2lb of dried bud (with room to expand that number by being a caregiver). yes it costs $100-$200 generally and you must renew every year (renewals are cheaper than the first time registration) BUT it sure beats all the taxes and "fees" you'd pay if it passes. whats also good now is with a card you dont have to get it from a dispensary...you can also go to a collective or even craigslist...so if the $55-$60 8ths and the dispensaries sound steep (which they are) then you can get ahold of anyone with a prop 215 to get what you need...craigslist has great deals for those low on funds...like 1oz of shake/popcorn buds for $50 (thats a deal...yea its shake but is it not bud? if you like joints/blunts then shake is your friend...)

anyway im getting off point...

basically i just wanna say thanks for finally coming through for me & future smokers...they will thank us all.

keep up the good work and spread the word: no on 19 ;)

i know how you feel. i was actually banned from a website for this & my posts were edited or removed...

its sad because i'd type my fingers off only to get banned and my post taken away. its just not fair especially when its being posted on a marijuana forum...its not like it was posted on a firearms forum...i mean wtf?

Its an herb, there is no room for a bar code and serial number.
Legalize yes,
Tax no...
Its going to go underground the day it goes legit unless they make a good clean law that protects from corruption and the only way is just to
LEGALIZE IT! Just let it grow...

And let people out of jail for Christ sake its a flower.

decriminalization will be the closest you get to being able to legally posses without paying taxes. and even now with prop 215 you still pay taxes if you go to a dispensary. only thing that sucks if it becomes legal is it will be a monopolized market and we will be at the mercy of their pricing (kind of like how the u.s.a. is with oil & the middle east...middle east controls the market and basically TELLS us what we are going to pay.)

it's interesting how legal becomes worse than illegal
do you think that the enthusiasm to bust home grows will persist when you buy MJ at weedmart?
not that 19 will do that, it's not that big a jump
the more legal it is, the less credit law enforcement will get for their miserable prosecution of small scale growers, juries just won't convict people for avoiding taxes
now big growers may have an issue, say the 1 ton grows, but small growers? no

Interesting topics and debates going on in this thread...personally i say dont legalize yet. the government will just grab us by the nuts and get the most outta it.

IF, and i say if, it passes...DO YOU HAVE TO BE 21??

because im a 19yr old card holder..does that take away my rights as a medical user?

im freakin out man!!
