Bagseeds can be some of the dankest shit we ever grow...But they're usually some random stuff, and not worth it.

It all depends on if you know the strain and genes behind that bud, if not...then its still worth growing.

every seed should get a chance to grow.

haha for whatever reason I was thinking of the arguments about feminized seeds leading to hermies and bagseed, which could lead to more hermie plants (even though I know thats not how it happens) but the point is...lol

Start a line of hermaphrodized seeds! For the seed banker in all of us... LOL

well i wont say that my first grow wasnt worth using bagseed for, i learned a lot. BUT, that being said, man are real genetics nice. theres no going back =D

get some real strains.

here is an example:

femized GHS super lemon haze (multiple cannabis cup winner) is in the flowering room, 5 weeks in to 12/12

she has developed 3 pollen sacs (male flowers) within the canopy so it is very hard to see them. she has just been hit with a high dose of pk 13/14 and the buds swell so quickly they almost envelope the pollen sacks. the pollen sacs release a small amount of pollen inside the buds of the plant, only pollinating a few flowers of the heavily budding lady.

6 weeks later the weed is dry and done curing so you break up the huge buds to put it into bags, strange a seed just dropped out of one of the buds, how the fuck did that happen?, you say.

somebody buys a bag of the potent shit you got and what do they find in it?, thats right a bag seed!.

they grow it out and it turns out to be a female which is the best plant they ever grew and they got it for free.

this is just an example of what has happened to many people in the community and it sort of contradicts what you are saying.

usually seeded weed is awful and if you do grow them out you don't know what you will get. in this case though it wasn't seeded because somebody left a male in with the females but because a plant pollinated itself.

Bagseed IS garbage. Yes ghb people have got seeds in bags they bought from someone who accidentally pollinated a few buds on their crop. I think what you don't realize is they don't usually get a female seed, they get a herm seed. So if they wanna go to all that trouble to grow out a crop that will seed out for them....GO FOR IT. Herm bud=herm seeds=herm crops the next go around.
Trust me...I've witnessed it personally, and with several friends MANY times. You don't wanna grow bagseed. You may get lucky, if you have no other choice then go for it, but buy some quality genetics otherwise.

i do buy seeds from reputable breeders. i never cheap out on anything for my grow and would never grow a bag seed my self.

i have witnessed bag seeds being 100% female with no male flowers, mother has been in veg for over a year and still no herm tendancies, that is after all the stress she goes through with 30 cuttings at a time coming from her.

i stand by my statement that not all bag seed is garbage.

i prefer to know exactly what i'm growing and what the end result will be, nothing worse than grinding a bud to find them brown little buggers!

i know!,not had that experience for years fortunately. the seeded weed i always found had a slightly soapy smell to it, i could tell if it had seeds before i even seen them feckers.

I love bag seed myself.
For setting up new grow rooms, testing nutes, lighting, grow style, oder control, ventilation, heat control, humidity control, or just plain learning in general.... bag seed is the effective way to go.

Okay, maybe it isn't the super duper. But for free (sorta) and one not really knowing what is what in growing, how can it be bad?
I'd rather burn / kill / mold / stunt / hermie a bag seed than a $10 - $100 "real" seed anyday.
Instead of "bag seeds", could we just call them learner seeds?
When doing an experiment I'd much rather use a learner clone from a learner seed than the Big $ prized seed.
Besides, what's the bad? Need to smoke twice as much to get the job done? 2 X 0 = 0($). Works for me.
I've had some killer weed come out of experimenting with these learner seeds.

Besides, think about it. A good grade commercial bag will generally have good grade commercial seed. What's wrong with that? The learning curve can be difficult sometimes. Why waste good money on top seed when your grow techniques scream, "HELP!" :joint:

Nothing wrong with bagseed - if you liked the smoke, bagseed will grow you more of the same - better if you dry and cure it properly.

I second Canon. I'm on my first grow and so far I have heat stressed, man handled, used crappy soil and nute burned my plants all while dialing in my grow cab. All mistakes I will not be making next go around. If I had spent a $100 on seeds, I would have been pissed.

It stands to reason that if bricked up seeded crappy swag is not allowed to pollinate and handled in a non-commercial manner with good growing conditions ...that the cared for indoor product should be at least somewhat better than what was purchased from the dealer. It will most likely not be 22% THC with pretty colors and tastes, but some decent knock around bud.

2nd grow I agree with you, getting an order from Attitude. Might as well go for the gusto if you are going to put the time in.

My grow is all "bag seed" wanna know what I got? Bubble gum kush, ice cream kush, some medi-grade I can't remember the name of and purple haze and a single mids plant because it gives a good fully functional high. These are now obviously crap plants because I got the seeds for free and had been working on collecting them for the past year because high grade seeds are decently rare. So...yep...I should definitely throw them out and buy some "real" strains because your post has completely convinced me to do so. Right.

If someone doesnt want to commit to a breeder and just grow for a hobby and some smoke. Some of my bag seed grows have treated me better then a $60 8th, several times. The best part for a grower who doesn't care is the enormous amounts of seeds you get (FOR FREE!!!), sounds like a good deal to me if you dont want to be some connoisseur but someone just wanting some cheap smoke. Obviously if there growing bag seed in the first place there not smoking chronic all the time if not even a little of time, so to them there grow is going to be a lot better then the weed they got the seeds from in the first place. So there is still a improved smoke for their personal stash without dropping oodles of money on genetics. So its cheaper, easier, and can yeild a lot more medicine with a lot less money. Whos going to tell that person that his way isnt the best way to grow weed when it has worked just perfectly for that grower and he/she is happy. I have bought seeds from overseas, it should just be growers preference.

does anybody have any experience with the actual genetics of the cannabis palnt? bagseed is garbage? Lets for pretend pose a hypthetical situation here...I buy an ounce of mids for 100$. A fuck ton of seeds is found within the poorly manicured, mishandled, most likely sun dried mass outdoor mexican/jamacain/wherever grown buds.

The high from the mids is nothin big..just enough to take the edge off, little harsh, ans poor taste or smell.

I grow out 26 of these seeds. For situation we'll pretend we got like 50/50 ratio. 13 f and 13 m

We choose the best 3 fems and the best 3 males based on characteristics we like because out of those 26 seeds you better believe phenotypes are abundant.

We let the top 3 m pollinate the top 3 fems.

After another growout of these seeds, we can again select for traits and if necassary do a backcross to the parents and start narrowing down our strain traits. Point is that all "good genetics" are is locked down traits. Even then you don't know you'll get great genetics. Breeders don't release true breeding forms of their seeds usually we get F1 seeds from a cross, or hermie self induced fem seeds. Which for the record are BAD GENETICS!!!

In my first grow I grew out like 100 bagseeds. Out of those 100, like 30 made the cut for awesomeness. After numerous backcrosses and growouts, I am on my f4 generation and have an amazing indica sativa hydrid that will punch any seed you order right in the face. It stinks like sour pus, yields like power plant and is ridiculously easy to clone and never has gotten sick.

I grew some rocklock that under optimal conditions( and I mean optimal) produced like barely an ounce

My I/S#2 that I have been working with...the bagseed...a good 2 to 3 ounces every 9 to 11 homeboy.

Bagseed is genetics waiting to happen. It all depends on what traits the seed will express from the parents. Just becaus ethe weed you got it out of was crap doesn't mean the genetics are. Like I said, mids are usually massivley grown in other countries. The attention given to these crops is nowhere near what the worst RIU grower gives his/her plants. They are mishandled, not manicured, beat up, and shipped. Do the same with some white widow, and I guarentee youll say dont grow those...its bagseed.
