Those of us with iPhones are well aware of the fact that all the current iPhone scale applications are entirely USELESS for weighing buds.Most are simply "pranks" designed to give a random or programmed reading. Others are comical in their design, requiring the user to balance the device on their thumb or actually drop items onto the screen!
The iPhone accelerometer is shockingly accurate! The problem with these applications is that they fail to provide a stable balance point. As a solution to this problem I have invented and filed patent for a protective case that turns your iPhone into a VERY PRECISE hanging scale with a 0.1 - 300+ gram capacity! The case requires NO power source. It simply provides a central pivot point, access for finger OR placement hanging, and a load bearing clip.
The case provides the mechanics, which is recorded via the accelerometer. This data is displayed through an application in grams, oz's, ct's, and gn's. The application also provides the ability of a TARE/RESET function!
I have submitted this product to a company called Quirky. This company helps inventers bring their products to market.
