i think it should work out just fine as a res cant say much about cfl never used them for full grow
ok so ive been lurkin on this forum for awhile just observing...when i came across this cooler thread. needless to say i fell in love. im a first time stealth grower. i would like some input from you guys. i want to do a stealth dwc grow and i think i have the perfect cooler. now, im open to your comments and opinions as long as any criticism is constructive and respectful. so heres what i have, stealth grow cabinet 25in tall, 16in wide and 21in deep. this is also a cfl grow, 8x 23w cfls total. 6x 6500k and 2x 2700k for veg. 6x 2700k and 2x 6500k for flower. heres my cooler lol its a one gallon thermos.

keep in mind guys that this is a stealth grow hence the small cooler and cfl lighting...so what do ya think? is it do-able?

Mr Miyagi would envy those bonzai skills you put on that mom . View attachment 1527251
She's so healthy and sturdy looking !!
+REP brotha !

What's your cloning process if you don't mind ?
That's been a discussion of late.
Thanks, the bonsai moms work well for me. I just top to make two, top again for four, then when they get four nodes, I top to stop vertical growth and let those 12 get long. When I clone, I pull two off opposite branches. After two grows, I reveg or start a new mom.

I use a four site Daisy Cloner with the spinning mister and I put a small aquarium heater in it, one for a 2-5 gallon tank. I'm usually a DIY guy but it was just easier to buy a cloner this once. I use tap water and nothing else. I tried filtered water but it didn't work at all. I just take cuttings about 4-5" and drop them in water until I need them. Then I trim them to a growing tip and a couple of secondary leaves, place them in a neoprene top. I gently scrape the stem with a clean razor blade, from the end up about an inch. I then cut at a 45, stick the neo in a 3" net pot and stick it in the cloner. Done. I don't take any credit, I just think I got lucky with genetics. Since I stopped using filtered water I don't think any of my clones haven't rooted, it's not even something I think about, it's just part of the process now.

Just remember, smaller res equals faster ph fluctuation.

Aint THAT the truth.
The more H2O/Nute solution in the rez, the longer things will stay stable.

Think of a puddle vs a lake !! lol
A drop of car oil will dramatically alter the puddles composition.
A drop of car oil in the lake will have very little to no effect on the lake and it's environment.

I think your cooler as reservoir will be too small. Too small for good roots and too small to control pH fluctuation. If I were growing in an area that small I would want to use all the footprint I could to get maximum reservoir quantity. Here's my thought; water is 231 cubic inches a gallon.Your floorspace is 336 square inches, so one inch of water in a space 336 square inches would be 1.45 gallons. For every inch of height you make that reservoir taller you gain 1.45 gallons, so if you could find a container, 4" x 15" x 20" you'd have a reservoir of 5.19 gallons and still have 21 inches for light and a scrog.
