I've used topping techniques on tomato plants...they do work, although not as predictably as mj, in my experience. I'll bet a tomato scrog would work well, but since you're probly not limited by height restrictions, it might not yield any more than a staked plant that's allowed to just do its thing. Still, I'd like to see the experiment done.

Ace 55's I have no experience with. Beef steak for sure. I quit growing them that tall because steaking them was a bitch. One year I borrowed the company bucket truck and 15' rebar to steak them. I have a telephone pole I can plant one close enough too. Was thinking about growing one for show.

No pics. Sorry. Lost them. I have a back up disc with some eight footers somewhere. I will start hitting the nurseries looking for a stud. I will post some pics here if that's cool. I worry about digging a three foot hole beside the pole. There are no wires on it so if it falls it would cause no damage. Humm. Maybe a big ass grow bag.

I've dug LOTS of holes against power poles. It should be ok unless you dig a hole the size of a car. Or how about attaching a cable like a guy wire to it, anchoring it away from the base and let it grow @ more of a 45 degree angle. You could attach a few and create a temporary gazebo!

1 thing when you grow tomatoes is to pull of all the "sucker" you just want the main vine. you will get bigger tomatoes and they will grow faster = more yeild in the end.

Don't forget to put a few MJ clones alongside the tomatoes.

Here is a pic of a plant I had outside.
Kept it LST'd really low to the ground. Took up alot of room, but was not tall.

Just had another random thought (all day man, all day)......WHAT IF you're Dad smokes YOU.....And as you stand there looking befuddled, he pulls a giant spliff outta his pocket, sparks and says, "Don't feel bad son, I've been growing the diggity dank since you were a tadpole in my old bean bag".

That would also be fun.

hahaha, now wouldn't that be some shit? He was actually over at my house a couple of days ago and stumbled upon my dresser and knew what was in there right away, damn fan gave it away! haha, told me he's grown before too so I guess this competition just got a little sweeter in my book.

If my little brother wasn't still living with my parents (he's only 12, was a late surprise for them) then I'm sure my dad and I would smoke together. Hell my mom ate a brownie of mine on accident once when she was drunk and the next morning wondered why she didn't have any hangover from all the tequila the night before...until I told her what was in the brownie haha, she hints at more from time to time.

Haha I know, I know, I just don't have edibles as readily available as I do bud, but the next batch of butter I make will be one of her Mother's Day presents.

I am actually planning on setting up a smaller garden for myself this summer, don't wanna get too far in over my head. Figure if I grow some of the more popular veggies I can not only save dough at the grocery store, but I can also use them to block off the couple of MJ plants I plan on putting in the garden with the veggies.

What other veggies do you guys recommend? Mind that not only am I a rookie cannabis grower but this will also be my first actual garden, so nothing that is TOO tough ;-)

A sucker is the little growths that don't produce flowers or fruit. i'll see if i can find one on my tomato and post it. i just pulled them a couple days ago though.
