Is this too much of a light leak?

I agree, if it's an easy fix, why let it happen?? Unless you want to intentionally experiment with light leaks.

Yeah I don't get the effort to use the spray foam and a stapler? but them you don't want to tape the panda film to the wall? This seems common sense to me...

that wall is concrete cant staple or even nail shit thru it, my landlord built this house like a fucken idiot... im going to get some velcro and velcro both sides down the whole point of the curtain is to open it while the light is on to control the heat because i dont have an a/c directly in the closet i have one in my room...

Dude it looks like you have scotch tape on that wall no problem. I know duct tape will stick and hold up plastic, one wall of my room is concrete and i got shit taped up just fine.

That expanding foam gets kinda brittle under intense light too, might break away from your wall eventually.

Post more pics please.

Cant ducttape the curtain its a black out curtain and its extremely thick and heavy im thinking the velcro would be my best option they sell big ass rolls of velcro at walmart for a couple bucks. that foam shit is at the top of the wood i just used to it cover the light leak it was like a 1/4 inch gap on each side, the board doesnt get hot. and yea i know it looks like crap i didnt know how to use it lol and im extremely short so i couldnt reach even with a chair bahahaha, this is my first grow the plants got huge in veg cuz my husband didnt help me seal off the "growroom" so i had to do the best i can here are some more pics of my over grown bitches, im already noticing im gonna prolly have to give one away to a friend cuz i doubt they will fit and i need to go out and invest in a couple cfls to help out the bottom leaves cuz my light isnt strong enough for all those plants

yea that is on my headband plant i did a dumb ass move i just finished mopping the house and i put the plant on my doorstep to water it just a quick thoughless move and it was pretty cold outside so i think the plant got shocked and like 20% of the leaves were completely damaged and curled i had to trim it all off but there is still more damage i dont know what to do its been about 2 weeks or more and the leaves haven improved, this is the probably the plant i will be giving away to a friend that has an outdoor grow, hopefully he could get her going good and get a good yield, so we can split it =)

nice set up for closet grow. what wattage is that light? thay look pretty good exept they are culing up on the tips and getting a little to much N ferts in my opinion. try just straight ph'd water for the next couple waterings. as for the light leak. everyone try's to say it has to be pitch black during flower and that is simply not true. It is not pitch black every night outdoors and they flower just fine in the wild. Heck sometimes the moon is as bright as day almost. you just do want to be in there while its dark time turning on the light and hanging out/fondling/watering/ ect. as long as they go out of rest mode and back into grow mode your ok.

@queenster ThankYa ThankYa its my first grow im kinda proud heehee =D and as far as the light leak i went out and got 2 5foot strips of industrial strength velcro and walmart im sure that will more than suffice =) and i always thought about that, why does everyone completely freak out about light leaks i mean the moon is bright as shit around these parts, but im a noob so i dont get that into shit... yettt... =D

BAHAHAHAHA @Hellraiser Thats exactly what i told my husband when he got "disappointed" with me when i told him we gotta give one away IMO i should have flowered them at least a month ago or more and be getting ready to chop soon, but my husband lagged like crazy to seal off the grow space i ended up doing most of the work, this is my first grow so im just testing the waters see how it goes but i am extremely proud of my self so far for the results i am already seeing white hairs and its only been one night of flowering =) i cant wait for tomorrow or next week gahhhh im so excited =)

You sure about that? I'm not sure of the science but we are dealing with candles compared to the sun. Ever taken an outdoor plant and thrown it under a 1000watt? It freaks out for weeks, its like another planet. I have always understood light leaks will confuse plants and they will not flower to their potential and at a very slow rate.

oh and my light is 400 =/ i know its small for my lil jungle but i just bought a couple cfls and they will get thrown in there tomorrow hopefully =) and i need to go buy a hps bulb because the one i had on hand broke =/ will using an mh light for a couple days cause any damage???

@norcal i dont really understand the whole light leak thing, some people say you get hermies some people say your buds wont be as good... maybe you can shed(leak) some light on the subject lol

I noticed the curling on all the plants there. What is your feeding schedule?

Velcro will work well as long as it is strong enough for the weight of the curtain. Try a fabric store if you need stronger stuff.

No, no harm, people have run full cycles on MHs. But its always best to run HPS in flower, the light spectrum is warmer, more orange more like the fall sun. I have never used CFLs for supplemental lighting so I don't know what would be worth your effort. Could you just upgrade to a 600? If you aren't in a rush you could take clones of the tops of those plants, it will slow down their growth a bit until you can get a bigger light over them. Just an idea.

All I really know on the absolute darkness subject is my experience and what I was told by other growers, this is the first I have ever heard that "it doesn't really matter" Good luck!

the stuff i got was great 2 packs of 5' industrial strength velcro i ran it all along the side of the curtain on each side, idk if the adhesive part will last on the fabric i might have to sew it on but we will see...they are all being fed differently so i already got confused my husband just started me plants one day he brought 2 then a couple weeks later he brought another one, then like a month later he brings 2 more lol they are all different sizes but i was attempting a feed feed flush cycle. the headband plant is giving me major problems, first i thought i shocked it by taking it outside to the cold, then i thought i was burning the bitch so i started just giving her plain ph'd water and then it started getting pale yellow but the tips were still curled and the bottom leaves are nasty but i think thats the lack of light which will be fixed soon, im giving that plant away to a friend hes gonna throw her outside with his other plants see if she gets any better hopefully she gets better i been trying to get her better but i dont know anymore i feed her light usually under 350
