Will Fox Farm Grow Big KILL mycos?

IDK, is it natural or synthetic ingredients? It can be ok and not 100% 'organic' afa mycos.

It's actually both, the guy af ff said high p levels will slow it down but the grow big shouldn't hurt it.. Just wanted to get a second opinion

well just repotted some cuttings last night so I figured I'd give this recipe a try for first feeding.... Mycos in promix with lime added, 1 teaspoon grow big, 1 teaspoon fox farm kangaroots, RO'd water with calmag at 50ppm, ph'd to 6.5.. How long does it usually take for the mycos to become active?

Contrary to popular belief chemical nutes do not kill all the bennies ins your medium...you can find a balance.
^^^^^^ EXACTLY ^^^^^^

I occasionally use Jack's Classic with my naturally amended soil mix with no ill effects. Straight tap water too.

The FF guy was correct. According to a study by Curtis E. Swift of Colorado State University - "The benefits of mychorrizae are greatest when the soil phosphorus levels are at or below 50ppm (50 mg-kg -1). Mycorrhizal infection of roots declines above this level with little if any infection occurring above 100 ppm P even when soil is inoculated with a mycorrhizae mix". "The level of phosphorus in the plant has also been shown to influence the establishment of VA mycorrhizae with high levels inhibiting colonization by mycorrhizae (Menge,et al. 1978)".

Here are some a little over a week later...

The small ones are the second White widow female bean I popped, but I think its a shitty pheno cause their not growing at a good rate so I might kill off that mom

So I have another question?

Will I have to feed less when using mycos?

I think I feed a bit more with mycos. The plants have a stronger overall vigor, could be they just take up more food, or it could be the mycos consume a bit of food themselves.

cool thanks for the info, I use a chemical flowering food and do you think that, that will kill them once I switch to flowering? Sensi bloom A and B but I don't start it until like the 4th week of flowering

I'm currently using salt fertilizers and micros with good success. But with salt fertilizers micros aren't really necessary anyway. I use them to very effectively maintain a healthy, pathogen free root zone.

So do you really see that much of a difference using mycos? I'm actually trying the extreme gardening kind, its only $2.50 a package that does around 8 plants. I also have a jar of mycos madness which your supposed to add to water and the EG kind added directly to soil. Ever tried either of these kinds?

Yes, I see a big difference in my plants' health. They don't grow any faster then when conditions are already ideal, but micros certainly do help keep the root zone stable.

When doing hydro, I had a bad root pathogen attack during a hot summer. Multiple equipment failures set up a slime attack, and typical treatments in hydro weren't responding. Beneficial micro-organisms saved my most precious moms.

No, I haven't tried either of those particular products, lately I've been brewing my own compost tea and I add a bit of Great White. But there's lots more products out there too. Just check to make sure you get all three of these: bacteria, fungi and trichoderma.

Compost tea all by itself works great.

I think I'm gonna start reading about compost tea's, been interested for a while but havent had the time to learn about it.. Could you point me in the right direction that has some good info about it or does anyone have a good recipe? I use Fox farm ocean forest and promix, not together but for 2 different strains

It's really easy, put the following mix into a container/bucket/whatever:

1 gallon of water (if tap, let it sit out for 24 hours)
1 cup of compost (well composted)
1 tablespooon of molasses (must be unsulfured, "Grandma's" works fine.)
1/4-1/2 the recomemended amount of micros innoculant you might have (optional)

Then put an air stone into the container attached to an aquarium air pump. Doesn't need to be a big one, but the more aeration the better.

Let it brew for 2-3 days, or until it stops making foam. Strain out the compost and it's ready to serve. At this point, it should smell like good, healthy dirt.

Give the girls about 1 cup of this tea for every gallon of water you give 'em when you feed. Innoculation only needs to be done once in the life of the plant, but I do it after every flush (with food) for maintenance.

Store the extra tea in the fridge, not the freezer. It will last 10-14 days. Aerating the left over tea every day or two will extend the life of the microbes inside. If it starts to smell a bit of sour, rotten, or vinegar/alcohol it's time to toss it in an outdoor garden and brew another batch.

EDIT: Btw, I'm not sure if you missed this link in my previous post:
